Nick Kern 6’5″ Gateway: A talented all-around wing from Vashon who has the ability to score at all three levels. He has a nice jumper, but he is very good at creating his own offense off the dribble, plus he can also go into the post and get buckets against smaller defenders. He is long and athletic and displayed some very nice passing skills to set up open teammates when he was faced with double-teams. One of the top prospects in the 2021 class, he has already received offers from Saint Louis U. and DePaul.
Mario Fleming 6’3″ Team Ramey CCM: A strong physical wing who is doing a good job transitioning from the low post to the perimeter. He is tough to handle around the basket with his strength and ability to finish at the rim. He is now handling the basketball much more and looks more comfortable outside, especially when he’s driving to the basket. He scores at the rim and also dropped in a couple of nice floaters. Attends Cardinal Riiter.
Isaiah Williams 6’2″ Knights Basketball Academy: A smooth lefty guard from Lutheran North who had a very productive weekend. He has good length, solid handles and has the ability to score in the half court or in transition. He is quite good off the drive. He also displayed a nice stroke from 3-point range off the catch.
Freddie Cooper 6’3: Team Ramey CCM: It was my first time getting a look at this talented young wing from SLUH and was impressed with his all-around ability. He was very good in the championship game when he knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and played some excellent defense to lead his team’s rally from a 19-point deficit to a near-victory. He is very active on both ends of the floor.
Jack Pronger 6’6″ Gateway: A long and lanky wing player from MICDS who can really knock down 3-pointers to stretch the defense. He has good passing skills and has worked to improve his ball handling ability. In a four-guard set, he is an ideal Stretch 4 with his shooting skills and ability to move without the ball and get to the open spots on the floor.
Demarion Shanklin 6’2″ Team Ramey CCM: A very offensive minded southpaw from Jennings who can really score in a variety of ways. He is excellent on the drive and has a very good mid-range jumper on the stop and pop. He can also knock down open 3-pointers off the catch. He is capable of putting up points in bunches when he is on his game, which is often.
Brock Wakefield 6’2″ Gateway: A very talented bucket-getter from South Iron who is one of the top Class 1 players in the state. He is a three-level scorer with shooting range from well beyond the 3-point line. He can shoot it from anywhere on the court. If you close out on him, he’s capable of creating his own offense with nice handles and escape moves.
Carter Hoog 6’2″ Knights Basketball Academy: I remember watching him at last year’s Prep Hoops tournament in St. Louis and how impressed I was with his strength and versatility. He’s strong enough to post up and get buckets inside, but he can also go outside and initiate the offense and makes plays off the dribble. Attends Valle.
Aaron Brady 6’1″ Arsenal Hoops: My first look at this youngster from Trinity and he showed quite well. He plays with a lot of confidence with his skill set and basketball IQ. He knocked down a couple of 3-pointers from the wing and had some nice drives to the basket. Everything was under control when he looked to make plays.
