The event was loaded with numerous teams, some of which included very talented prospects. In this article, Brandon Jenkins highlights the best shooters at the event that you might have not heard of:
Logan Bracamonte – Small Forward – SABO Gold – 2020
Bracamonte (San Antonio Randolph) has a nice build to along with a nice stroke. He was automatic from deep range when his feet were set in the contest vs. Nike Drive Nation 15U (EYBL). The sharpshooting wing looks to be the next man up in terms of successful players from the Warhawks program to go off and play at the next level.
Preston Lawrence – Shooting Guard– Basketball Means More – 2020Lawrence (Richardson Lake Highlands) is the perfect floor-spacing addition to BMM’s roster. He constantly makes the defense pay for helping off and closing out late. His best shooting performance was in the game vs. Urban ASAK where he connected on five attempts from downtown. This spring/summer season could be a great one for Lawrence because of his shooting prowess at 6-foot-4.
Mekai Pope – Shooting Guard– Lonestar Mustangs Elite – 2020
Pope (Waxahachie) was extremely lethal from deep, as the undersized two-guard had great back-to-back performances in both of his Saturday matchups. He drilled in four threes in a showcase loss to Marcus Smart YGC36 (Adidas) and topped it by knocking down five in the next game to Louisiana Elite (UAA). Look for Pope to assert himself as the primary perimeter scoring option for the Mustangs this summer.
Corvin Oprea – Shooting Guard– Basketball Means More 16U – 2021
The lefty has a quick trigger and can really heat up from behind the arc. Oprea came alive in the Saturday morning matchup vs. Nike Drive Nation 16U (EYBL) where he scored a game-high 26 points (including five made three-pointers) and led his team to the narrow victory. The Coppell guard is one of many perimeter players on BMM’s 16U roster that stroke the long ball.
Ryan Agarwal – Small Forward – 3D Empire – 2022
Oprea’s teammate at Coppell High School is a good enough shooter to make that facet the niche that he builds his game upon. Agarwal was simply unconscious in the game against Louisiana Elite 15U (UAA). He made a bunch of timely shots from long range and finished with 20 points (six made three-pointers) in the win. The slender-framed wing has a chance to be a very valuable prospect because of his great positional size at 6-foot-6 and his value as a consistent shooting threat.
