FOH Seattle 17u Team Preview
Grassroots season is officially upon us and it is time to roll out some team previews. First up is Friends of Hoop (FOH) Seattle. Corey Kispert (Gonzaga) and Cole Bajema (Michigan) are some alumni from the last couple years and the proud tradition of the program continues into the spring of 2019.
Program Background:
FOH Seattle has been in the Pacific Northwest AAU circuit since 1997 and has produced some of the top talent from the area onto the collegiate ranks and a few were lucky enough to play in the NBA. A former shoe-circuit team, FOH Seattle for the last handful of years is a non-shoe circuit team and continues to produce high quality teams and players due to the talent in our area.
Tom Eggers and Marcus Fermon will be coaching the 17u top team this year.
Notable Alumni; Zach LaVine, Joe Harris, Isaiah Thomas, Spencer Hawes, Martell Webster, Jon Brockman, Corey Kispert, Cole Bajema https://www.fohseattle.com/alumni/
Roster: FOH Seattle 17u
2020 6’9 C Will Abram (Arlington HS) – Rim protector and shot blocker, is in great shape and has continued to improve his finishing around the rim. Very long, can get up and down the court. Rebounds well.
2020 6’5 G/F Jared Franklin (Curtis HS) – Athletic slasher and can get to rim and take contact. Continues to develop his outside shooting and becoming a dual threat at the rim and from outside.
2020 6’3 G Josh Lear (Sumner HS) – Excellent shooter, big motor, and competes at a high level. Defends well and is a great communicator.
2020 5’10 G Cage Schenck (Woodinville HS) – Quick, Athletic guard who can get to rim and find teammates. Pulls up off the bounce well and is a dual threat offensively and defensively.
2020 5’11 G Grant Hunt (Eastside Catholic HS) – Excellent on-ball defender, and a true point guard who handles and distributes well. He is developing his outside shot more to round out his overall game. Very quick, athletic, tough-nosed guard.
2020 6’8 F/G Aidan Rolfs (Redmond HS) – Excellent shooter, is a stretch 4 who can step outside and knock down shots. Gets up and down the court well. Can protect the rim with his length.
2020 6’0 G Zach Shimek (Inglemoor HS) – Great midrange, and hits outside shot well – scores with the ball in his hand. Quick hands and can get steals and deflections.
2020 6’3 G Blake Glessner (Woodinville HS) – Excellent defender and mid-range jumper. Great bounce and athleticism, can rebound and is very tough. Competes at a high level, and has a great motor.
Coach’s outlook:
We are very excited about this group and think that we have the size and athleticism to compete with any team. We will look to get up and down, share the ball, and defend at a high clip. We will run a combination of inside-out offense and shoot a lot of open jumpers.
Scout’s outlook:
FOH has a very solid group that should compete well this spring and summer. This team features some sleepers that will have the opportunity to make a name for themselves this spring and summer. While there is no Corey Kispert or Cole Bajema on this year’s team, they have a plethora of shooters and good mixture of athletes to help them versus the more uptempo teams. As always, FOH will play a strong man-to-man defense and look for the best shot possible on offense.
