IKE CORNISH | 6’6 G/F | 16U TEAM MELO/LEGACY ‘21
Ike Cornish filled a myriad of roles on both ends of the court for Team Melo. He was active defensively, utilizing his length to disrupt the vision of opponents and collect a handful of rebounds in traffic. Cornish shot it well offensively and once the defense began to close out, he looked to attack and create plays off the bounce. He was very good in transition, where his feel was evident as he converted several crafty finishes in traffic.
GABE DORSEY | 6’4 G | 16U TEAM DURANT/HILL ‘21
In a short amount of time, Gabe Dorsey has developed a reputation as one of the top 2021 shooters in this region. He’s a lefty with a quick release, knows how to move without the ball. and has limitless range. Another area of his game that stood out was defensively, especially in the post. Dorsey doesn’t get moved off the block easily and does a nice job of staying vertical.
CHUCK HARRIS | 6’2 G | 17U TEAM TAKEOVER/GONZAGA ‘20
One thing you can’t let Chuck Harris do is set his feet before he shoots. If he gets that opportunity, he is likely to make you pay given the work he’s put in to becoming a near knock down spot up shooter. Harris wasn’t afraid to mix it up defensively. He reacted quickly to every loose ball and was good in transition. Harris is very good at moving without the ball, but while on the ball is adept at getting downhill and seeking contact around the basket.
PAUL SMITH | 6’8 C | 17U TEAM DURANT/DEMATHA ‘20
Paul Smith was active and alert defensively for Team Durant. He challenged shots effectively without fouling and ran the floor with purpose in transition. Smith showcased his soft touch by knocking down a spot up jumper from the top of the key. He also had some nice finishes inside 15 feet.
DIMINGUS STEVENS | 6’5 G | 17U TEAM TAKEOVER/WILSON ‘20
One thing we know about Dimingus Stevens is that he can score in bunches. This was evident in both the first quarter and overtime of TTO’s hard-fought win over NY Lightning. What stood out most about Stevens are the improvements he has made defensively. He’s become a good communicator in help side and is improving as an on-ball defender at moving his feet to keep his man in front. Stevens boxed out more consistently than ever and fought hard for rebounds that were not in his area.
