Caden Boser of Wisconsin Swing . The 6-foot-7 forward is starting to make 8-9 bucket games a habit for the Swing. Caden had a big scoring game against Minnesota Select and produced consistent numbers against the Fury and Schoolers in the final four of the event. Scored back to the basket, moving to the basket, and using the dribble. Milwaukee has offered and more should come.
Noah King of Comets Elite. Noah has always been a winner and his resume shows it. What did we pick up this weekend? King led the way not just with his playmaking on both ends but Noah’s ability to manage the offense in simple ways, and aggressive number producing ways individually as well. The biggest thing was Noah’s leadership vocally. Love the way he was able to guide his team. There is some Vinnie Shahid in Noah King which is a beautiful thing. And he’s the strongest guy on the floor.
Andrew Morgan of Heat Tauer. The sophomore class is led by bigs (after Trejuan Holloman of course). Chet Holmgren is backing up his five star ranking at Prep Hoops, Treyton Thompson continues to develop, and Riley Mahlman is a super stud football prospect that could have hoops offers if he wanted it. Add Andrew Morgan to that list. His 29 point, 16 rebound performance making 13 of 19 shots in the title game will go down as one of the best performances in Comets Shootout 16u history. Morgan has a face-up game at 15 feet, he’s relentless in his rim run for numbers, and Morgan has agility that puts him in space to produce. At 6-foot-8 we are talking about a top 4-5 prospect in the class.
Tanner Resch of Wisconsin Swing . Resch scored 22 in the semi-final to get the Swing to the finals and then gave his team a shot in the title game scoring another 22 points. The sophomore produced 44 points total against the best top teams (not named Swing) in the event. Resch showed scoring range but also went at the basket with another gear than everyone else on the court after players stepped to perimeter threat.
Boden Skunberg of Dakota Schoolers. Boden put together 60 points on Sunday in the three quarterfinal event games leading the Schoolers to a second place finish. Skunberg is automatic in space when his feet are set and the ball comes his way but the percentages were still high when contesting defenders were in good position. Boden’s perimeter touch was high percentage and his ability to move off the ball to create shots ranks with the best we’ve seen in three weeks of covering 17u level basketball. Add in the dribble separation for scores and you have one of the nastiest scoring guards in the Midwest.
