First off, what a team assembled. There are not many super teams in-state for 16U and this has the resemblance of the closest thing to one. When you have standouts Robinson, Wilson, Whitaker and Williams all on the same team it proves to be disastrous for opposing teams. Robinson is able to take over a game and is the top overall player in the class. He can dunk, finish at he basket, penetrate the defense off of the dribble and also shows range as one of our best overall players. With Wilson throwing him passes and carving up the defense with speed and insane court vision watch out. Wilson is one of the states best passers and runs the offense. He does not back down from any other guard in the state and makes everyone around him better. Those two players also get after it defensively which will only make things more difficult for opposing teams. Whitaker, Johnson and Williams only make this unit more dangerous as they are the playmakers for the team and most versatile. All three are capable of going for 30+ on any given night and I am sure that there will be times that they do. Whitaker is a known commodity and for Williams this will be a coming out party as he shows the upside to be in the top 10 players in his class. Johnson is just there to prove that he belongs and is one of the state’s best regardless of class. Teams will have a difficult time containing this trio which leads Siebert to go under the radar and attack. With a front court of 6’10 Fall and 6’8 Titera this team looks scary good. Now we just have to see if it all comes together.
For 17U it is much of the same. A team ready to dominate from the inside out. This is the best big man trio that I have seen on one team in quite some time. I have no idea how teams will be able to contain Baskins who had an incredible year as a lone threat for his Pomona team who is a walking double-double who I expect to have a triple-double or two this summer next to Moerman who I think has the upside once he reaches his full potential to be a Division I prospect with the way that he manages to do things on both ends of the court and also Graham. Graham is the best player on this team and is a Division I prospect that the offense will run through. He has incredible size but is one of the most skilled big men in the state that will now not have to be double-teamed each time down which spells disaster for opposing teams. Their guard play is also very good with Saffeidine, Swanson and Cole who all get after it on both ends of the floor. Saffeidine has the size to control matchups and is able to play off-ball but also run the offense and get guys open, Swanson is a menace defensively that seen his offense come to life and will create many plays for this team while fitting in seamlessly and Cole is a guard that has it all. He can score, defend and get everyone involved.
It is difficult to not be too excited about this bunch as the Colorado Hawks yet again has what it takes to be titled one of the best.
