College Commitment: Griffin Barker (2019 Eastside Catholic HS)
Another senior is off the board. After considering a number of options at different levels and even playing a little bit more on the AAU circuit this spring, Griffin Barker has decided to end his recruitment. The hard-working 6-foot-7, 245-pound forward from Eastside Catholic will be heading south to play his college basketball next season.
“I committed to Redlands University yesterday,” Barker said. “I loved the coaches and the players there and I felt that they had a good community behind them. I felt that it was a really good fit.”
Barker decided on Redlands over other possibilities in California at Vanguard University and others closer to home in George Fox and Lewis & Clark. The overall fit was just right for him at Redlands both off and on the court.
“They said I’m coming in planning on being the big presence,” Barker said. “But they also want me to catch and attack from the middle and the wing. (This summer will be) a lot of cardio and conditioning and getting my mid-range and three better.”
Barker currently ranks as the #44 player in the PrepHoops Washington Class of 2019 rankings.
