College Commitment: Grant Fuson (2019 Lake Oswego HS)
Lake Oswego had a banner year and Grant Fuson was on the journey from start to finish. The solid 6-foot-5, 210-pound forward served as a glue guy for the Lakers all season long and helped the team achieve a #1 ranking and a third place finish at state. Now that his prep career is over Fuson is looking ahead to the future and after recently making a campus visit has decided where he’ll be playing college basketball next year.
“I just got back from my trip at Cal Lutheran and I committed to play there next year,” Fuson said. “When I visited I liked the campus and Southern California is where I wanted to further my education. The basketball coaches and I formed a good relationship over the past six months and I wanted to go somewhere that I could contribute and Cal Lutheran will give me that opportunity.”
The visit to campus really sold Fuson on the opportunity to pick Kingsmen. “What I like about the school is the small school vibe with a great campus and lots of things to do around it,” Fuson said. “Also the business program I liked with what they had to offer and all the courses they had. As for basketball their gym is brand new and really cool. We will have a lot of upside with us being younger as coach is building his program. Also the style of play I liked.”
Fuson notes that he wants to work on getting his body right to get ready for the college level and he’ll be focusing in on that in his off-season workouts. As he prepares himself for the future he looked back on his senior season – one in which he showed off an all-around game averaging 5.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while leading the team shooting .447 from three on his way to earning Honorable Mention All-Three Rivers League honors.
“I think the season went well all the guys came together and we really played for each other,” Fuson said. “And as for me I think as the season went on I gained more confidence and was able to help the out the team in important times.”
Fuson currently ranks as the #68 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
