Continue ReadingWith the conclusion of the high school season, many administrations are already coming for the ax on some coaches. Right or wrong, that is kind of the name of the game and especially for Indiana. While we don’t plan on going into discussions on coaches jobs, that doesn’t change the fact that there are openings and it is an interesting storyline.
So, we are trying something new this season with keeping an updated look at those job openings and which are the best among them. We are ranking those schools below and basing it on quite a few different things from roster makeup, size of the school and how good the program is in that class, Sectional makeup and viability to win, as well as administration and how difficult or easy they are to work with.
With that being said, we have completed our look at those schools that we have confirmed that are open and ranked them. This will be changing over the course of the Spring and Summer as these jobs get filled.
High School Coaching Filled:
North Harrison – Lou Lefevre
Trinity Lutheran – Michael McBride
Arsenal Tech – Mosi Barnes
Seymour – Kirk Manns
Bedford North Lawrence – Jeff Hein
Franklin Central – Criss Beyers
Greenfield-Central – Luke Meredith
Yorktown – Matt Moulton
High School Coaching Changes:
1. Warren Central – Tons of success and talent that you have to keep in district. High level program.
2. Merrillville – Big school, always loaded with talent. Keon Thompson. Enough said.
3. Logansport – Big time 4A program with great recent success and possible quick returns.
4. Michigan City – Not a ton of success lately but a ridiculous amount of talent.
5. Bishop Chatard – Good program that needs to get over the hump.
6. Loogootee – One of the best teams in Southern Indiana, just couldn’t get it done lately.
7. Tipton – Great program history with local support. Talent comes in waves.
8. Tindley – 1A program that has support and recent success. Need to develop guys.
9. Vincennes Lincoln – Good program that has success and some talent. Quick returns?
10. Corydon Central – In one of the best Sectionals in the state. Not sure about talent remaining.
11. Madison – Good, competitive program with talent in tough Sectional.
12. Charlestown – Good 3A program but needs to get back to good. Tough schedule, though.
13. Clinton Prairie – Good talent at a program you can win at. Quick small school success possible.
14. Boonville – Should have solid talent but beyond that, a very difficult Sectional and schedule.
15. Mt. Vernon (Posey) – Decent talent but needs time to develop.
16. Lewis Cass – 2A team that usually can get and develop talent in a down Sectional.
17. West Noble – Always competitive Sectional in 3A that takes some effort to escape.
18. Western Boone – Small school team with talent, mostly multi-sport guys. Moving Sectionals likely.
19. Wawasee – 3A team that hasn’t won more than 6 games in a season in the last four years.
20. Union County – A ton of recent success in a solid but winnable Sectional. Could return quickly.
21. North Knox – 2A team in a very difficult Sectional Could take time to build into program.
22. North Vermillion – Good talent returning with quite a bit of success recently.
23. North Putnam – No program success but some talent on roster. Needs development.
24. Triton Central – Graduating talent will leave hole. Usually have some talent each year, though.
25. Tri – 1A program that is in a tough spot to find talent. Takes time to build into a threat.
26. Shawe Memorial – Working on 5th new coach since 2014, tough to develop talent recently.
27. Culver Community – 1A Program in an easier Sectional but talent is sparingly on the roster.
28. Bethany Christian – 1A program that has struggled to find success.
