Torre is the tallest player on a lengthy SI Select squad that played quite well in Paducah. He averaged 10 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for a good Highland team during the high school team. While his numbers may not stand out on such a deep team, there is no doubt that he will be a critical piece to SI Selects success this summer. He served as an excellent deterrent in the lane, blocking and altering several shots. He is a rim protector when his team presses and patrols the lane when they are in a zone. Offensively, he does a nice job of crashing the offensive glass for easy put-backs. He keeps the ball high and plays at the rim and showed off some nice touch on his jump hook. He threw down an authoritative jam that shifted some momentum against a tough E.N.G team.
Isaiah Esker – Arsenal
Arsenal’s 6’9 250 pound center was one of the more imposing forwards in the gym last weekend. Coming off a solid junior season at Parkway South where he averaged 11.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, he will be the anchor in the paint for Arsenal this summer. His team knocked off a very good Chicago Wolfpack team and he was a major factor in the victory. He was tough on the glass, altered several shots, and was always ready and willing to catch dump offs and finish strong at the rim.
Alton Hervey – Team Chaos
Alton is a Cairo, IL native who probably possessed the best combination of size, strength, and skill of all the bigs in the building. Standing probably a hair under 6’6, he has a thick build and does a great job of using his size to gain positioning in the deep post or sealing his man out of the lane for a lob over the top. He looks raw, but really impressed us with solid fundamental footwork and very nice touch off the glass. He was filling it up all weekend, scoring 18 against Premier, and just missed leading his team to a semi-final upset over SI Select.
Evan Worley – SI Select
Evan is a versatile forward who is fresh off an impressive junior season that finished up at Hillsboro where he averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds per game. He is a nice compliment to some of the other forwards on SI Select, because while he can patrol the lane and score on the block he can also spread the floor and keep defenses honest with his mid-range jumper and ability to attack off the dribble.
Aaron Heckert – Team Carlock
Mr. Fundamental, Aaron Heckert, put on a clinic in the post. He is a traditional, back to the basket forward that has solid footwork, an array of post moves, and soft touch off the glass. He is mobile with a big, strong frame and really feasted on smaller competition. He also had a solid showing against SI Select, proving that he can go to work against equal or greater length as well. He is in line for a big summer with Team Carlock out of West Tennessee.
Kortez Stevenson – Show-Me-State Warriors
Kortez is a young forward to keep an eye on out of Kansas City. Just a freshman, he is playing up and proved that he definitely belongs. He already has polish to his game with good footwork on the block. He plays strong in the paint, attacks the boards with purpose, and has the ability to step out and shoot the jumper as well. He will continue to grow, mature, and develop this summer and in the coming years and is likely to be a coveted college prospect.
