A lot of times, tough defenders are forgotten because of all the offensive highlights we pay attention to and sometimes take more seriously. As a former player, I love watching guys get after it on the defensive end with grit, versatility, and most importantly hustle. All of the guys below impressed me doing just that. Here were my top defensive performers from the Bearcat Classic on Sunday.

Allen Latimore (2020) Stivers- Team Flyght

Latimore impressed me during the high school season with his on-the-ball defensive play. Possessing great footwork and high IQ defensive play, Latimore continued his toughness during the Grassroots play on Sunday.

Blake Miller (2020) Northmor- Mid Ohio Magic

One of the better shot blockers I saw Sunday, Miller had arguably the best block of the day, sending a Brady Uhl (2020) layup into the Shining Stars bench during their matchup. A lengthy, physical forward, Blake moves very well and has a nice vertical jump.

Hunter Drenth (2020) Revere – SMAC Primetime

Drenth is listed as a 6’8 forward, but he has the footwork of a guard. An athletic playmaker, Drenth played nice help-side defense and has the vertical leap I’m sure he can be a force at
