Lets take a look at some of the action on opening night from the Easley Recreation Center. The Ashton Arnold Tourney is never huge with big numbers but do have teams all the way down to the 3rd grade.
JE Elite Blue 8th Grade started off the night with a victory over the Tigers Elite Blue 65-59. JE Elite Blue is a team consisting of all 2023 players playing up in the 9th grade bracket. Lets take a look at some of the top performers from this game right here.
Zack Myers
Zack Myers (2023) – Christ School (Arden, NC) – JE Elite Blue
Myers was all over the floor all night long. Myers 6’1 plays with a GREAT MOTOR and really likes to attack the basket. Myers dove on the ground on all game long and never came out of the game. Myers attended Carolina Day last year before heading over to Christ School this past season.
Josh Harrison
Josh Harrison (2023) – Greenville Middle School – JE Elite Blue
Harrison 6’3 fills the lane in transition and showed ease finishing around the basket. Harrison can extend the floor and knockdown shots on the perimeter.
Tyler Brown
Tyler Brown (2023) – Greenville Middle School – JE Elite Blue
Brown is a great floor general on the floor. Brown stroked the ball from behind the arc along with several pull-up jumpers in transition. Brown 5’8 informed Prep Hoops that he will attend Legacy Early College next year.
Alijah Jones
Alijah Jones (2023) – Greenville Middle School – JE Elite Blue
Jones is a thick guard who really sees the floor well. Jones connected on some pull-up jumpers and really likes to utilize the head fake.
Pharell Boyogueno (2022) – Riverside HS – Tigers Elite Blue (pictured on front)
Boyogueno was a pleasant surprise. Boyogueno 6’3 connected on some elbow jumpers and felt most comfortable playing face-up to the basket. Boyogueno rebounded on both ends of the floor along with altering shots on the defensive end.
