Six-foot-10 Christian Oliver, the 2019 John R. Wooden Division V Player of the Year, helped lead Santa Clara to the SS 5AA title while 6-8 J.T. Tan, the JRW Division III POY, was a part of the Rolling Hills Prep squad that captured the 3AA crown – the program’s third consecutive championship under Coach Harvey Kitani.
Another selection, Andre Henry (pictured) of St. Francis, hasn’t received the notary he deserves – media-wise and college recruiting-wise – with a large part of the reason being that he has been overshadowed by higher profiled fellow Mission League juniors Ziaire Williams (Notre Dame) and Johnny Juzang and Mason Hooks (Harvard-Westlake).
As a reminder, these selections are based upon the junior seasons the players and their teams had, not upon their college potential and/or how heavily they are being recruited by college programs.
The first-, second- and third-team selections, as well as the Most Outstanding Junior for 2018-19, will follow shortly.
