Here were a few AZ standouts in the games I viewed:
2019
Ajang Aguek F 6’7” Taylor Made Prep (Team Harden AZ 17U)
-Aguek has an elite motor. Non-stop aggressive play. Grabs rebounds out of area and can push the ball. Rim runner who blocks shots. His athleticism has taken off and his speed in the open court looks like a pure wing. Can face-up from elbow and in and moves in space better than most in the class.
Emmanuel Tshimanga C 6’11” Bella Vista Prep (Billups Elite)
-Good skill level, big hands and rebounds well in area. Can lean out moving forward but has the IQ, toughness, length, size and strength to be effective at the next level.
Takari Fields C 6’7” AZ Compass Prep (Team Harden AZ 17U)
-Physical true 5-man who brings just enough offensive punch to keep the defense honest. Grabs rebounds at a high rate in area and has become more athletic in last year or so.
2020
Jalin Anderson CG/PG 6’3” 175 AZ Compass Prep (Team Harden AZ 17U)
-Uber athletic combo guard who is one of the better on ball defenders. Streaky deep shooter with volleyball line range. Good off the pick and roll and can make the read. Likes to touch paint and score. Above the rim dunker. Body has really come in with good strength. Could cut down on the occasional turnover.
Trent Hudgens PG 6’1” 160 Moon Valley (Team Harden AZ 17U)
-Athletic lead guard who can shoot it with deep range. He has a quick shooting release and a nice floater game plus can get downhill with speed and a tight handle. Very quick on-ball defender and competitive player.
Isaiah Floyd SG 6’3” 175 Eduprize (Team Harden AZ 17U)
-Top shelf athlete with strong frame. Gets downhill quickly and capable perimeter shooter. Very fast in open court and good on-ball defender. Breakout off-season is starting to look the part.
2021
Steven Cervantes PG 5’11” 150 Mesa (AZ Legends 17U)
-Cerebral lead guard that continues to improve every showing. True pass-first PG who can find teammates in traffic. Makes pin-point passes and a very good advanced passer. Has deep range with a fast trigger and understands the game between the ears. His feel for the game is just as high an anyone. He could be a fast riser in the soph class.
