17U teams were on display.
Here were the results:
Factory 17U 80 vs Taylor Made Prep 54
Prime Basketball 80 vs AZ Wild 54
Team Arizona Platinum 75 vs Taylor Made Prep 71
Here are more standouts from Wednesday night:
2019
Shemar Grant PG 6’1″ Taylor Made Prep/Millennium HS
-Grant is a strong scoring lead guard who defends his position. He is a capable 3pt shooter but is best going downhill. He has good length, speed and quick reflexes to defend his position and plays with nice physicality. Grant will start at TMP in the fall.
Moses Yaro SG 6’1″ Taylor Made Prep/Maryvale HS
-Yaro is a newcomer for me. He is only 16 years old still yet he is graduating in May. He will prep one year and may pick up some interest. He is a strong guard who can shoot it consistently from deep. He is quick and strong on the ball defensively and plays with a good edge. Yaro will start at TMP in the fall.
Mycole Rodriguez SF 6’2″ Taylor Made Prep
-Rodriguez was letting it fly in both games. He got hot in game two with 5 3’s made. He has decent length and moves well in space. He doesn’t put the ball on the floor very often but he can catch and shoot quickly.
Tyrese Eugene PG 5’10” Taylor Made Prep
-Eugene is another talented guard for TMP. He is one of the stronger guards you’ll see out there. He can pull-up off the dribble and hit the catch 3. He is another physical defender and can make plays for others. He is a no-brainer Juco player and will have the ability of going to a 4-year school after it.
2020
Dyson Lighthall C 6’7″ American Leadership Academy-QC (Team Arizona Platinum)
Lighthall had the top performance of the night. He scored 33 points and did it efficiently. He hit multiple 3’s plus mid-range jumpers. He also scores inside the paint with great hands and feet and can maneuver his body to the basket. He outlets passes strongly after a two handed rebound and his IQ is very high. He constantly moves without the ball or is looking to set a pick to possibly get the ball off of pick/roll or pick/pop.
Jordan Wollangk PG 5’10” Mesquite (Team Arizona Platinum)
-Wollangk is the heart and soul of the team. He creates most of the offense for the club team with pinpoint passes, great pace, changing speeds, physical play and one of the higher IQ’s out there. He is a pure PG that is easy to play with. He is a downhill scorer and capable deep shooter. He gets to the FT line a lot to get some easy points and racks up assists every game. The duo of Wollangk and Lighthall (pictured on cover) has been special in the ACBL.
Zaiah Gonzales CG 6’0″ Mesquite (Team Arizona Platinum)
-Gonzales is a cerebral guard who makes winning plays. He can hit the deep ball (which is his best skill) or make his teammates better. He is a very unselfish player where he will give up a good shot for a great shot. He can be more aggressive at times, but plays smartly throughout the game for his teams success. He is quick on the ball but could get stronger. The son of a coach truly plays the right way.
Devin Ash SG 6’0″ Mesquite (Team Arizona Platinum)
-Ash is clearly their shooter. He is almost all catch and shoot but is very consistent with it. Every college coach is always looking to space the floor and he will be just that. He can improve in some areas but is moving without the ball most of the game to find open spaces in the defense. He also is another Mesquite player that is very cerebral and will only attempt good or great shots. He gives high effort on defense.
