This is an amazing thing for them to be filmed so the college coaches get to watch them play.
Results:
Taylor Made Prep 59 Factory 16U 55
Factory 17U 59 AZ Wild 51
Here were some of the standouts in these two games.
Colin Carey SF 6’6” 2021 Sunrise Mountain (Factory 16U)
-Carey’s confidence is sky high right now. He poured in 30 points versus an older Taylor Made Prep team and did it efficiently. He was firing away from deep with a quick release. He also can flush it down above the rim and rebounds well in his area. He created many shots for himself off the dribble and rose up to hit from mid-range and got out on the break and made some contested layups. He looks like a clear Top-10 talent from his class.
Elijah Thomas SF 6’4″ 2021 Valley Vista (Factory 16U)
-Thomas is a long wing forward that seems to improve every outing. He played a lot in the post over the last year or so but is transforming his game to the perimeter. He still gets inside to rebound at a high level with his bounce and length. He is very fast in the open court and handles it better than expected. He is a more consistent perimeter shooter and can rattle off deep 3’s. Once he gets more reps on the wing, his recruitment may take off.
D’Maurian Williams PG 6’4” 2019 Westview (Factory 17)
-No Emmanuel Taban tonight for the Factory and Coach Mullins relied on Williams to carry the load of the work and it paid off. He got in the lane per usual but also shot the ball really well. He hit three 3pt shots in the 1st half to set the tone for the game. He rebounds at a high level for a guard and has nice court vision. He has a calming feel with the ball in his hands and he is an aggressive defender on the ball.
Xzavier Lino SF 6’5” 2020 Sunnyslope (Factory 17)
-Lino is that classic 3 and D type of wing. He has a super quick release and a consistent approach. He has a stronger build, good length and athleticism. He can score it inside but doesn’t put the ball on the floor too much and can make strides with his handle.
Meir Azaria SG 6’3” 2019 Taylor Made Prep
-Azaria is a player who moved over from Israel and has made a huge impact. He scored 26 points in fine fashion. He can shoot it from deep plus mid-range. He changes speeds well and is a tough kid to get into the lane and scored through contact with a variety of difficult layups.
Jacob Koskie SF 6’4” 2020 Sandra Day O’Connor (AZ Wild)
-Koskie is the AZ Wild’s top scorer/shooter. He has quick shooting release and understands how to move without the ball. He relocates to an open spot and gets it off before the defense closes out. He also can hit from mid-range and has a decent handle to create his own opportunities. He will need to thicken up his body/frame but he could be a nice weapon to have in college.
Matthew Fan PG 5’11” 2020 Scottsdale Christian Academy (AZ Wild)
-Fan is the teams 6th man but was crucial keeping the game close all night long. He is a cerebral pure PG and really makes the game easy for his teammates. He is a good passer and plays with a good pace. He changes speeds and keeps the defenders guessing. He can hit open shots from deep and use his quickness to get into the lane and finish. He fits right in with their teams philosophy of moving the ball for an open shot.
(AZ Wild) other guards who performed well:
Matt Jensen CG 6’0″ 2020 Mountain Ridge--Jensen is a smart ball handler who can score it from the perimeter. He likes the mid-range game and is tough on the ball.
Gino Ciccaglione PG 5’10” 2020 Mountain Ridge-–He is the primary lead guard and really gets the game from the neck up. He is an outstanding passer and play-maker. He can score the ball but is asked to run the team, which he does in fine fashion.
