16U teams were on display.
Here were the results:
Team Arizona Black Elite 80 Team Arizona White 58
AZ Venom Blk 57 Triple Threat 55
Prime BB 70 Factory 60
Triple Threat 66 AZ Venom Red 62
Here were the standouts from Thursday night:
2021
Gunner Wooden SG 5’11” Liberty (AZ Venom Red)
-Wooden only played the 1st qtr of the game but made enough of an impact to see how good he can be. He has great length and a pure stroke. He seems to be one of the players that will continue to grow in height and game.
Dre Sheehan PG 5’10” Agua Fria (AZ Venom Red)
-Sheenan is another talented guard from Venom. He can score it from all 3 levels and has good speed with a nice first step to get into the lane. He can shoot from deep but seems to like to get into the lane with good quicks and hesitates well. He finishes with either hand in the lane.
Will Betteridge PG 5’10” Chaparral (Triple Threat)
-Betteridge is a deadly shooter and has a fast trigger. He changes speeds and has a tight handle to create space and lets it fly. He works mostly on the perimeter but can blow by his defender. He has good court vision and some moxie to make plays.
Jevon Humphrey SG 6’1″ Chaparral (Triple Threat)
-Humphrey is a tough two-guard who can shoot it consistently from the perimeter. He has great strength at 175 lbs to take the ball to the basket and score through contact and has a consistent pull-up from mid-range.
2022
Jalin Humphrey PG 5’11” Chaparral (Triple Threat)
-The younger Humphrey is a quickly improving lead guard. He has some serious jets in the open court and plays unselfish basketball. He can score the ball easily by getting into the lane using his speed and burst and has a nice stroke from the perimeter. His speed jumps off the page and his court awareness is high.
Mike Saba PF/C 6’6″ Chaparral (Triple Threat)
-Saba has good length and moves fluidly around the court like a wing. He can step out and hit the 3pt shot plus is a good interior defender. He blocks shots at a good rate and pays with toughness.
