2021 Rankings Update: Movement at the Top
Kalen Etzler is the new no. 1 prospect in Ohio’s 2021 class. Among elite sophomores, Etzler’s size separates him from the crew. The 6-foot-8 forward from Convoy Crestview combines elite length and height with the ability to defend multiple positions and make shots in a variety of ways, including a better-then-40-percent 3-point stroke.
Slots two through five in this iteration of the 2021 rankings are filled exclusively by Northeast Ohioans — Meechie Johnson, Malaki Branham, Seth Wilson, and EJ Farmer.
Branham and Farmer are new additions to the top five.
Branham, a 6-foot-5 small forward from St. Vincent-St. Mary, has a ton of potential. He both blocks shots and defends in space extremely well. Very fluid athlete that gets to spots off the dribble with a quick first step and the ability to contort his body through tight spaces before pulling-up or finishing in traffic.
Then, Farmer’s calling card is the ability to create separation for his shot. The 6-foot-4 volume scoring guard from Lutheran East hoists lefty jumpers at a high volume. As he continues to become more consistent with that jumper, his scoring averages could balloon from around 20 points per game to pushing 30.
