Here’s a quick look at some of the players whose stock is trending up as they head out to play in front of coaches this weekend.
Ben Johnson, Lexington Catholic – Known more for his scoring abilities than just about any 2021 in the class, Johnson has been electric as a playmaker thus far in the AAU season. He’s got several schools coming to see him this weekend in Kansas City and could possibly snag an offer by Sunday if all goes well.
Isaiah Mason, Bowling Green – The lanky guard from Bowling Green has been the best player on the floor in multiple games this Spring. Playing more with the ball in his hands due to KJ Crump’s injury, Isaiah shows so much ability at times that you can get frustrated that he isn’t playing that hard all the time. He’s quickly trending towards being a no doubt D1 player and this weekend could solidify that with an offer.
Kelly Niece, Simon Kenton – Sometimes the forgotten guy in the rising Junior class, Niece is a pure scorer and has had a good spring so far with Indiana Elite South. He was the leading scorer in their win over Manimal Elite a couple of weeks ago and could gather more interest with a good weekend.
Cearius Warren, Southern – There probably isn’t a better athlete in the 2021 class in Kentucky and Team Thad’s running and pressing style allows “King” to do just that. Playing with a top team in the Under Armour Association helps his stock and chances of being seen this weekend.
Sam Conley, Spencer County – Sam has scored the ball at a high level all spring so far and being stronger than many of his peers allows him to bully his way to the rim. If he can show the ability to guard opposing wings this weekend, his stock is going to keep climbing and he could be looking at offers by July.
Nash Divine, Muhlenberg County – Playing up an age group as the point guard for Fort Campbell Snipers 17u, Divine has had a good start to his AAU season. He’s still a ways away from his first offers as he needs to bulk up to play at the next level but a growth spurt has helped his college stock.
