College coaches won’t have as much time this year as in the past so we are here to breakdown the talent in the upcoming senior class. Today, we are looking at the top rebounders in the class.
Carson Barrett – 6’5 SF Lafayette Central Catholic (IN) – Indiana Ice 2020
Johnell Davis – 6’4 SG Gary 21st (IN) – Indy Heat EYBL 2020
Josh Smith – 6’6 SF Monrovia (IN) – Men of the Family 2020
D’Andre Davis – 6’6 SF Lawrence Central (IN) – Indy Heat EYBL 2020
Chris Grubbs – 6’6 SF Hamilton Southeastern (IN) – EG10 2020
Champ McCorkle – 6’5 SF Greenwood Christian (IN) – N/A
Andrew Welage – 6’7 SF Greensburg (IN) – Indiana Elite East 2020
Tre Coleman – 6’6 SF Jeffersonville (IN) – Indiana Elite 2020
Dillon Duff – 6’5 SF Fort Wayne Snider (IN) – Indy Heat Red 2020
Thoughts: The most intrigue in this class is with their talent in the wing positions. There are a ton of guys here but also a wide array of skillsets. Guys like D’Andre Davis, Chris Grubbs, and Tre Coleman kind of do everything really well so them being in the rebounding group here is unsurprising.
However, some name to really pay attention to are Andrew Welage, Johnell Davis, and Carson Barrett. Welage provides a ton of versatility and he’s still kind of growing. He does everything pretty well already. Johnell Davis is one of the more dynamic guards you will find. Enough handles to help on the point but big enough to really do damage against everyone around the rim. Barrett might be the best rebounder in the state as he’s just mobile and athletic enough to beat everyone to the ball. He’s also a very determined player in that regard.
You could also look at a guy like Josh Smith. He’s grown a ton in the last year and he’s now 6’6+ with mobility. He’s still learning about his new frame so it might take him a minute but he has the talent to be able to dominate down the road and rebounding is already one of those areas.
