Alabama’s 2019 class will be well represented at the next level. The majority of the class elected to not sign early. There are prospects that are still available, and that have decisions still to make. This article will talk about different aspects of the class.
Point Guard Depth: At the early stages of the season, I noticed a lack of true depth at the point guard position in the 2019 class. In our top 30, we have 5 have point guards. Three of those PGs, are in the top 10.
New Top Ten: Players in the 2019 top 10 were very consistent this season, and there were not many new faces in this group. Two players that launched themselves into the top 10 were Malik Tyson and JP Robinson. These two players were among the most improved from summer to end of season.
Perimeter Size and Skill: The most talented position group in the 2019 class would be the wings. From top to bottom, teams have found a great mixture of size and skill on the perimeter. There are 11 wings in the top 30 that measured 6’4 and above. 13 in the top 30 that are 6’3 and above.
Big Movers: There are 5 players that really standout when talking about climbing the rankings. JP Robinson, Auston Leslie, BJ Comer, Kuran Garner, and Austin Kelley. From the start of the season to the end, these 5 steadily climbed the rankings with their in season performances.
Unsigned Players in the Top 20: The 2019 has quality players that are still unsigned. Trendon Watford, the No. 1 overall player in the class will be making his decision in less than two weeks. No. 3 Kobe Brown, decomitted from Texas A&M and is available. Malik Tyson (7), JP Robinson (9), Justin Minter (10), Jeremiah Littlepage (11), Auston Leslie (15), and BJ Comer (18) are all unsigned and weighing their options.
