After with a lot of shuffling and new additions to the group, we are beginning to turn the page on the class of 2019 as they graduate and head to college in the next month or two. Here’s a breakdown of the top point guards in the 2019 class.
The Top 5:
- David Johnson, Trinity – David is a tremendous athlete and great facilitator that is going to compete for a starting spot at Louisville as soon as he hits campus in a couple of months. He has the body and build of a future pro and could find his name called at the NBA Draft in a couple of years. He’s that good.
- Jordan Graham, George Rogers Clark – Jordan is a guard who passes every eye test at 6’4 and with a strong, athletic build. He ultimately may be best suited to play more like a combo guard than a true point. The rumblings are that Graham could go to prep school and reclass to the 2020 class if the right fit doesn’t come along. Either way, Graham projects well to the next level.
- Korbin Spencer, Elliott County – Korbin had an explosive Senior season after a year at Hargrave. Among the leaders in the state in scoring, Spencer is going to be ready to compete for playing time at Pikeville next year as a freshman.
- Carter Baughman, Mercer County – Taking his talents to Centre College next year, Carter was voted 12th region player of the year after a big time Senior season where he averaged over 20 points per game and had the ball in his hands about 90% of the season for the Titans.
- Keaston Brown, Henry Clay – Brown had a good high school career as the floor general for a good Henry Clay team. Unfortunately Keaston suffered through some injuries in his time at Clay. Nevertheless, Brown was one of the best players in the city the last two seasons and will play at Tusculum next season.
Other Names to Know:
- Kobe Poole, Breckinridge County – One of the better scorers in the state, Poole is still unsigned and likely headed the Juco route.
- Donnie Miller, Newport – One of the better slashing point guards in the class, Miller has multiple options to play at the next level.
- Adam Sizemore, North Laurel – One of the best passers in the class, Adam ended his career with over 700 assists in 5 years of varsity.
- Diablo Stewart, Scott County – Diablo scores the ball at a high level and ended his career at over 2,000 points. He’s yet to decide his college choice.
- Jacob Robinson, Eastern – Jacob finished his career as a 1,000 point scorer for the Eagles and is still unsigned.
