Over the next couple weeks, we will highlight some of the top prospects at each position as well as some sleepers coming off big seasons who we are looking forward to evaluating in the coming months. The 2020 class is loaded with talented prospects primed to see their stock rise this summer. Here is a look at some of the big time big men from the 314 that we are looking forward to seeing in action.
6’7 Lamontay Daugherty – Mehlville
The upstart Mehlville Panthers burst onto the scene this season with a fabulous trio of transfer juniors, all of which will be suiting up for D1 programs in the future. Lamontay, who holds offers from Southern Illinois and SLU, is a long, rangy forward who can operate inside or on the wing. He is a high flyer in transition that can face-up and attack and knock down the mid-range jumper. He averaged 13.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in route to a quarterfinal appearance for Mehlville. The Panthers will be hungry to go further next season, but in the meantime Lamontay will look to boost his profile and reel in more offers during the Grassroots season.
7’0 Davion Bradford – Mehlville
Another part of the talented Mehlville trio, Davion Bradford established himself as possibly the most imposing presence in the 314. Standing at a true 7 feet tall and built like a freight train, he punished opponents on the block and on the boards. He averaged 16.5 points and 11 rebounds per game while swatting away 77 shots and deterring countless others. Everything he does happens with authority. The Rivals Top 150 prospect has ten D1 offers and will run with MOKAN Elite during the summer circuit.
6’11 Ryan Kalkbrenner – Trinity
The Trinity big man in the middle averaged 14.2 points and 7 rebounds per game this season. He also blocked an eye-popping 114 shots on the season. The stat sheet stuffer had big games in big moments, including a 12 point, 10 rebound, 7 block performance against state champion Vashon in February. Those efforts have landed Ryan four D1 offers (Rice, Louisiana-Monroe, Illinois, Kansas State) and many others will have close eyes on the versatile forward this summer as he takes the floor with the Mac Irvin Fire.
6’6 Elijah Bishop – Soldan
Elijah is a strong bodied forward who averaged 11 points and 6 rebounds per game for a tough Soldan team that finished the season 18-9. He pulled down three double-doubles and came up just shy of several more on the year. Known for being physical in the paint and bringing high energy every time he takes the floor, Elijah has been developing touch on his outside jumper and polishing his game on the block.
6’6 Devion Harris – Parkway Central
We love Devion Harris’s game. He put up 18 points and 8 rebounds per game for a 19-8 Parkway Central team that exceeded expectations this season. He had eight double-doubles on the season and threw down some highlight worthy dunks. He does a good job of using his strength to post and finish with a soft touch around the rim and can also attack off the dribble and finish from the wing.
