Continue ReadingMarch is always an interesting month as we know that colleges are ramping up their recruitment of prospects for the next season. Post season open gyms are taking place and this is the time where you will find college coaches in gym at a pretty high rate, so who has picked up interest and offers? What’s going on with the recruitment of my favorite player? Well we have those answers for you and more in our latest update of ‘‘what’s going on’’.
Grays Creek HS Senior Wing Antonio Dupree will be taking a visit to Chowan University this weekend, he has interest from the Hawks as well as interest from Sandhills Community College and Cape Fear Community College. His numbers were solid at about 13 points and 5 rebounds a night, he has a pretty quiet demeanor but his potential is evident.
Cardinal Gibbons Senior Forward Mike Walsh will be on a visit to Hampden-Sydney this week, Walsh had a nice season for his high school squad putting up 21 points a night and snatching down 9 Rebounds. We feel as if he would be an instant impact guy if he were to go to Hampden Sydney and play on that level due to his skillset and size.
Greensboro day Senior Forward Nick Evtimov picked up an offer from Western Carolina University recently. We got the chance to see Evtimov at the First 48 and Triad Summer League events, he’s a skilled player with good size and passing ability.
Mount Tabor Senior point Guard Quest Aldridge recently committed to Belmont Abbey which is a move that we feel will benefit both sides. Lack of guard play was an area that Belmont Abbey fell short on last year and Aldridge is a player that should see early playing time as he is a talented PG.
Lumberton HS Junior Guard Jordan McNeill will be headed to Word of God Christian Academy next season. McNeill was one of the top players in the area leading Robeson County in scoring at 21 PPG and pulling down 8 Rebounds from the guard spot.
Fayetteville Academy Senior Guard John Michael Wright’s recruitment is still open, High Point University is one of the favorites to land Wright while Boston College and Providence are far from being out the picture as things heat up. Wright is a top guard in the state and led his Fayetteville Academy squad to a NCISAA 2A State Championship this year.
Cape Fear Christian Academy Guard Riley Adams picked up offers from St. Andrews University and Columbia International. Adams has been a starter for CFCA over the past few years and has shown the ability to run the show as a PG or knock down shots from the Shooting Guard spot.
