A Wednesday Night For The Ages:
• #13 Olentangy Orange 77, #1 Dublin Coffman 67: In March, big things happen. And, that’s exactly what Orange did, made things happen. Led by Bryson Lane who put in a huge 29 points, the Pioneers were able to slow the Coffman offense at times. Dominiq Penn was solid in the dropped game, with 23 points. You can catch Orange in the next round Saturday, at the Columbus Convention Center.
• #17 Thomas Worthington 46, #2 Hilliard Bradley 41: Thomas Worthington could surprise some people, as I’ve been saying. With young scorers and a force inside, the Cardinals took down #2 Hilliard Bradley. Isaac Settles powered Worthington with 13 points, a team-high. Also, player Keaton Norris netted 14 for Bradley, despite falling.
• #3 Pickerington Central 49, #26 Big Walnut 39: Big Walnut gave the Tigers a run for their money, something not many expected. Up at halftime, Big Walnut was unable to hold on to that lead. Brody Lawhun had an impressive showing with 12 points, even though they didn’t pick up the win. The dangerous Pick Central team will be back in action Saturday.
• #7 Reynoldsburg 35, #8 Upper Arlington 33: Defense and Ben Fort was the recipe to success in this one for the Raiders, in taking down Upper Arlington. Senior wing Ben Fort had 16 points, and a huge go ahead bucket with just a few seconds remaining. Reynoldsburg was able to hold Penn commit Max Martz to just eight points, which is impressive. Sam Sass got his way however for the Golden Bears, a team-high 13 points in the loss.
• #9 Newark 62, #12 Walnut Ridge 55: Newark had a big of 20+ points, and the Scots stormed back. But, to little to late was the story here as Newark picked up a really good win to move on. Four players in double figures for the Wildcats, including Kadin Robinson’s 16 points was huge for Newark. Von Cameron-Davis went off during the Scots run, with a game high 24 points. The well coached Newark team moves on.
• #6 Hilliard Davidson 57, #16 Olentangy 55: As mentioned yesterday, Gage Keys should have his way with Olentangy, and that he did. The big man led the way for Davidson with 16 points. Also, sharpshooter Caleb Stimmel was able to add 13 for the Wildcats. In the losing effort, Sean Marks goes out in his final game with 20 points. A great career for him, the Braves all-time leading scorer. Davidson will take on Olentangy Liberty Saturday night.
