It was an eventful six months in the Baltimore area and plenty of players made arguments for why they should be moved in the rankings. Let’s take a look at the players who landed in the 26-50 range.
Ziggy Reid | 6’5 | St. Paul’s
Ranking: No. 29
Reid put together a strong senior season by leading St. Paul’s to an appearance in the MIAA B Conference Championship. In his conference, Reid has great size that helps him be a double-double threat every time he steps on the floor. He had a decent year shooting the ball, but made his money worth it when he was inside the paint. Reid will head to Merrimack next season as they begin their first season as a Division I program.
Przemek Golek | 6’4 | St. Maria Goretti
Ranking: No. 35
Golek was the perfect role player for a very talented Goretti team. He proved to be an efficient sniper from three and a smart decision-maker with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he was arguably the best off-ball defender I saw all season. It seemed like every game, Golek drew at least two charges from weakside rotations. Somehow, Golek doesn’t hold any offers, but Division II programs have started to inquire about him.
Amani Walker | 6’8 | Poly
Ranking: No. 37
Walker was another player who played very well in the role his team needed him to fill. As a result, Poly hoisted the Class 3A state title for the third-straight season. Walker was a rim protector and a beast on the glass. Unlike last season, Walker wasn’t forcing shots offensively. He roamed around the rim and waited for dump off passes where he would gather and finish strong with dunks. Walker has many Division II schools tracking him and will make a decision within the next month.
Rahsaan Edwards | 5’11 | St. Maria Goretti
Ranking: No. 39
Edwards was a great floor general who conducted a talented Goretti team to 25 wins and an appearance in the BCL Championship game. He is a great communicator that makes sure everyone on the floor is where they are supposed to be. Edwards can hit three’s efficiently and make good decisions when playing off the bounce. A number of Division II programs are awaiting a decision from Edwards.
Armon Harried | 6’4 | Lake Clifton
Ranking: No. 41
Harried had undoubtedly the best run to end the season in the area. The 6-foot-4 guard led his team to a Class 1A state title by scoring 35 points and pulling down 13 rebounds in the effort. Less than 24 hours prior, Harried finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds in the semifinal game. Harried has a knack for scoring off the dribble as a slasher, can hit the outside shot when open and convert efficiently at the free-throw line. Some low-major Division I programs have come onto Harried late. It remains to be seen what Harried will decide to do.
Drew Green | 6’3 | McDonogh
Ranking: No. 50
Green had a tough senior season as he battled with a shoulder injury that happened in the beginning of the schedule. Still, he had bright spots as a slasher for a young, exciting McDonogh team that lost in the MIAA A Conference semifinals. Green has great length and athleticism for his height and will transfer well to the next level. Green will suit up for Seton Hill next season.
