Corey Coleman, John Marshall.
Coleman’s body of work was limited due to the 74-31 loss to Heritage Hall in the state semifinals but he was the one bright spot for the bears. He was most effective from the three-point line where he connected on 4-of-8 threes. Coleman was a force for John Marshall all season.
William McDonald, Heritage Hall.
Contrary to Spanier, McDonald didn’t have a great first two games shooting the ball. He found other ways to make an impact but in the state championship game, he was the only player for the Chargers that could hit anything from three. He finished tied for a team-high 12 points on 3-of-3 shooting from three.
Matthew Stone, Kingfisher.
Stone was a gem from three for Kingfisher. Though his team clearly performed well enough to win the state championship with ease, they didn’t shoot particularly well from three. They killed teams from inside the perimeter. However, Stone shot 50% from three for the Yellowjackets and was one of the top scorers in the tournament as well. Stone is an exciting kid to watch, especially considering he’s only a sophomore.
Jack Spanier, Heritage Hall.
Although Spanier didn’t have the game he ideally envisioned himself having in the state championship, he proved furthermore that he may be the best shooter in class 4A. In the first two games, he scored a combined 28 points on 8-of-11 shooting from three.
