Clark-Willow Lake won the state title with a 23-2 record this season and their championship talent leads our Class B All State Team.
First Team Class B All State
Jacob Prouty of Clark/Willow Lake (Sr). Our Class B MVP led his team to a 23-2 season highlighted by a monster state tournament performance that included 37 points beating BE and 35 of his team’s 49 in the title game vs De Smet. If that’s not an MVP performance we don’t know what is. Add in the 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game and you have a champion. Also the Spirit of Su award winner.
Sawyer Schultz of Bridgewater-Emery (Sr). One of the most enjoyable players to watch this year, Schultz led his team to third in state with a 21-5 record (second best team in Class B). He scored 23 points a game with nearly nine boards and five assists a contest. Headed to DWU.
Trey King of Irene-Wakonda (Sr). If you totaled up all the “All-State” honors for a player over a career totaling them together in several sports King may lead the nation’s senior class (Football, Basketball, and Track & Field honors). A 23 point per game scorer who made nearly 50 percent of his shots despite receiving all the defensive attention.
Nick Wittler of Sully Buttes (Jr). Nick led his team to state and a 20-win season taking the scorer’s mantle and just running with it. Fast breaks, basket attacks, perimeter shooter, Nick pushed his way to 23 points per game shooting 45 percent from the field (5.5 boards and three assists per game too).
Connor Libis of Dell Rapids St. Mary (Soph). St. Mary won 18 games this season with Connor scoring 27.2 points per game while also dishing out three or four assists per contest. Libis faced all the game plans and still shot between 47 and 48 percent from the field.
Second Team Class B All State
Zech Clemens of Northwestern (Jr). A guard with size Clemens aggressively recorded 25 points a game with six boards and 3.5 steals a contest shooting nearly 50 percent from the field! Pushed Northwestern into the top ten of Class B and a 17-4 season.
Trevin Holland of De Smet (Sr). Trevin helped lead his team to the state title game averaging 17 points, just over seven boards, and blocking nearly three shots a game.
Micah Burke of Clark-Willow Lake (Sr). Averaged a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds a game for the numbers one team in the state. Efficient lost post scorer that made between 63 and 64 percent of his shots this season!
Brodee Sherman of Viborg-Hurley (Sr). Brodee was the only returning starter this year but still led his team to a 22-win season finishing in the Class B final four. Averaged 15 points, 5.5 boards, three assists a game.
Kalen Garry of De Smet (Fr). — One of the most enjoyable stories to watch was Kalen’s ability to lead De Smet in scoring as a freshman. Helped take his team to the state final at 22 points, six boards a game.
Luke Wells of White River (Jr). The forward continues to expand his range and game making 60 percent of his shots and shooting 37 percent at the arc. A 13.5 point, 8.5 rebound, 3.5 assist average for the 22-3 consolation champs.
Third Team Class B All State
Brayden PayPay of Timber Lake (Sr). Led his team to state with a 17.5 point per game season. Made a couple threes a game for an 18-win team plus he was big multiple steals a contest.
Jamin Arend of Bridgewater-Emery (Sr). The versatile veteran had another great year with all around numbers of 13 points, six boards, 4.5 assists, and two steals a game.
Jadice Morrison of White River (Sr). — A three point shooter that led his team to state with 13 points per game. White River was the one seed at state, finished 22-3.
Jharrett Bloomenrader of Highmore-Harrold (Sr). A double-double guy who averaged 18 points and 10 boards. Led the Pirates to a 16 win season and will play football at SDSU next year.
Alec Whitney of Jones County (Sr). Alec scored 15.5 a game teaming with fellow senior Austin Olson to lead their squad to state. Whitney was the leading scorer for a 20 win state team.
Andrew Bohrbach of Aberdeen Christian (Jr). All around number guy with 17 points, eight boards, six assists, and three steals a game. Aberdeen Christian went 14-7 with Andrew doing some, or a lot of everything.
Fourth Team Class B All State
