Joe Nunez – AZ Wild
Nunez scored from all parts of the floor, but was at his best near the rim after penetrating. He got into the paint with slick dribbling moves and finished with both hands or drew fouls. An and-one finished with his left hand while falling out of bounds was the highlight play of the first day.
Zachary Wagner – NAZ Elite
He scored simple points, streaking down the court in transition if others got a steal or rebound. He also had a few put backs from offensive rebounds. He showed you don’t need the ball in your hands all the time to score a lot of baskets.
Demarco Burkes – Tru Heat
He was just a temporary member of the team, playing for the weekend with the squad, so it was clear he didn’t know all the plays and scheme of the offense. But, when he had the ball in his hands, he showed he has the skill to score. When he had space to shoot, the ball often went in.
Jacob Koski – AZ Wild
Koski was absolutely on fire shooting from outside on the first day of competition, hitting just about every jumper he took. His threes were instrumental for Wild’s 2-0 first day. He also hit a buzzer-beating lay up to end the first half in the team’s win over Aztecs.
