Prep Hoops Wisconsin was able to contact the junior guard and ask him some questions as he prepares for his final high school basketball season.
Johnny Davis’ numbers do more than enough talking. In 26 games, Davis led his team in scoring with 23.1 points per contest. Despite what you may think, the guard is not concerned about his personal stats. “My personal goal is to win a state title and my team goal is to win a state title,” said Davis. “I don’t care about individual awards all I want is a gold ball.” Johnny Davis may not be concerned about his personal stats, but he put up some of the best numbers throughout the state last year.
Coming off an impressive season, Davis will look to keep his momentum going into this spring and summer. “No matter what team I’m playing for I bring the same work ethic and the objective is to win.” Davis also said that he would like to improve his perimeter shooting during his final AAU season. This will be a critical summer for Davis as he looks to pick up some more high-major scholarship offers.
Speaking of college options, Davis is not thinking about his college choice just yet. “I try not to think about it right now and just enjoy basketball while I can,” Davis stated. The combo guard currently holds offers from Wisconsin, UNI, UNLV, and he recently picked up an offer from West Virginia.
Many things set Johnny Davis apart when it comes to on the court qualities. In addition to that, Davis said, “[What sets me apart is] My ability to outwork everybody and to stay humble and patient.” Davis would still be a great player based on his pure athleticism and talent, but his willingness to put in the work is what makes him a spectacular player.
Johnny Davis is one of the most underrated recruits in the 2020 class. It would not surprise me at all to see Davis playing college basketball at a very high-level with the school of his choice.
