The Kearns product was great his senior season for the Cougars, and says it’s his ability to be a floor-general and playmaker that helps him the most.
“I’m really good at handling the ball and getting the ball up the court. Getting into the lane and making passes to set my teammates up,” said Lake. “I’m a knock-down shooter. And I think the best part of my game is how quick I am off the dribble, I can get past my defender and make the right decision after that.”
He added: “I communicate and lock up on the defensive side of the ball.”
Lake transferred to Kearns from Idaho’s Eagle High School prior to his senior season. It was a better situation for him and a family decision.
He averaged 14 points, six assists and 2.5 steals per game for the 19-6 Cougars.
“We had a really talented team, my role was to be a point guard on the team. I needed to be a leader and help keep the guys in line, and pretty much run the show,” he said.
Lake currently sports JuCo offers and has some interest coming in from from Division II and NAIA programs.
“I’ve just been talking to coaches, and ever since the season ended I’ve had coaches call me and want to get to know me, a couple have asked me to come out on visits. Right now, I’m just evaluation my options,” said Lake, who mentioned JuCo is certainly an option for him.
“Right now I’m considering everything, and I’m grateful for every opportunity I’m given.”
He added: “I think JuCo is a good route. I think if I went to JuCo it would be me trying to prove myself again just like I did my senior year of high school against really good competition in Salt Lake.”
