2022 Hagerty guard Jah Nze averaged 25 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 3.0 APG as a freshman for a Huskies squad that finished 17-12, losing in the region quarterfinal to Class 7A state runner-up Windermere.
The 6’3″, 210 pounder was named to the Seminole Athletic Conference 1st Team All-Conference.
Nze said it felt different playing varsity basketball but things got easier.
“As the season went on I made smarter decisions and slowed the pace in my head and translated to my game,” Nze told Prep Hoops. “I have seen the most growth in the way I handle pressure and being able to close out games for my team.”
He dropped two 40-point games against both Windermere Prep and Lake Brantley this season.
Currently, Nze has no offers but he’s heard from USF and FGCU early in the process.
Last summer, he played for E1T1 as he says it helped him to allow him to play his game and not be on a short leash overall. This travel season, Nze has decided to play for Team Parsons.
In terms of his biggest strengths, Nze alluded to his jumper, strength and ability to finish at the rim. He also pointed to his IQ and hard nosed defense.
He says he wants to improve his ability to create for his teammates and to control the pace of the game as a guard.
Nze’s ultimate goal with basketball is to play at a high major Division I school and to eventually play in the NBA.
He shares the same sentiment as nearly everyone that plays sports, specifically basketball, but he certainly has an edge right now with his scoring ability and skills. Building off his freshman campaign and carrying that into the summer will be essential for Nze to continue his name recognition and he’s certainly built for it. This is a strong young prospect.
