Most Valuable Player
Mario McKinney (Vashon) – The dynamic senior wing player finished his career in high style as he averaged 24.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the state champion Wolverines two victories. The Mizzou recruit had 26 points and eight rebounds in the 70-47 victory over Charleston in the semifinals, then followed it up with 23 points and seven rebounds in the 69-59 victory over Springfield Catholic in the state championship game. McKinney finished his career as a three-time state champion.
The Next Five
Cam’Ron Fletcher (Vashon) – The 6’7″ junior forward averaged 15 points and 5.5 rebounds in the Wolverines’ championship effort. Fletcher had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists in the semifinal victory over Charleston. In the championship game, Fletcher scored 19 points on eight of 11 shooting from the field and grabbed five rebounds in the victory over Springfield Catholic. After helping the Wolverines to the state championship, Fletcher immediately headed to East Lansing, MI to on an unofficial visit to Michigan State University.
Jake Branham (Springfield Catholic) – The 6’2″ senior guard averaged 23 points and 6.5 rebounds a game to lead the Fighting Irish to a runner-up finish. Branham had 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists in a big victory over St. Paul Lutheran in the semifinals. In the championship game, he had 25 points and four rebounds against Vashon. Branham also received an offer from Columbia College during the week.
Phillip Russell (Vashon) – The 6’0″ junior guard averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and knocked down a total of eight 3-pointers during the Final Four weekend. Russell had 20 points, four rebounds and made five 3-pointers in the Wolverines victory over Charleston in the semifinals. In the championship game against Springfield Catholic, Russell had 17 points, five rebounds and three 3-pointers.
Charlie O’Reilly (Springfield Catholic) – The 6’2″ senior guard averaged 16 points and three rebounds for the runners-up from Catholic. He was huge in the semifinals against St. Paul Lutheran where he scored 21 points and made five 3-pointers. In the championship game against Vashon, O’Reilly had 11 points and three rebounds.
Blessin Kimble (Charleston) – The hard-working 6’5″ junior forward averaged 19 points and eight rebounds to lead the Bluejays to a third-place finish. Kimble had 17 points, six rebounds and two steals in the Bluejays’ loss to Vashon in the semifinals. He had 21 points and 10 rebounds in a victory over St. Paul Lutheran in the third-place game.
