Players make the list for various reasons, such as: they had a breakout regular season and I want to see how that translates into AAU, they are very talented players, or because I think they are about to have a break out summer. No matter what the reason, you should definitely check these guys out this summer!
Ty Ty Washington (6’3 G Cesar Chavez/Vegas Elite)
Ty Ty Washington will be taking his talents out of state this summer and will be playing for Vegas Elite. Anytime a player decided to go out of state, I try to pay close attention to them just to see how their game stacks up against non-Arizona competition. I am sure he will be more than fine and have a terrific summer.
DaRon Holmes (6’9 F Millennium/Powerhouse 16U UAA)
DaRon Holmes had a huge run in the playoffs, especially stepping up defensively. I want to see if that defense can continue into AAU, especially since AAU has a reputation for being less defensive focused. If he can keep up that stellar defensive play, it will be more than welcome and appreciated since you rarely see intense defense in AAU.
D’Marco Dunn (6’4 G Marana/Powerhouse 16U UAA)
Dunn is going to have a breakout AAU season, mark my words. He has no college interest right now but I think that is mainly because of where he plays high school ball at. He has shown that he is one of the top players in the 2021 class and colleges will be on high alert this summer.
JT Elder (6’6 F Cienega/Powerhouse 16U UAA)
JT Elder is going to blow up even more than he already has. Elder has gotten a ton of college interest but no offers yet. I think those offers are soon to come once we get AAU season underway. I think he is a little bit lesser known as well since he plays in Tucson.
Bailon Black (6’3 G Ironwood/Team Zona 17U)
Bailon Black showed that he could hang with some of the best guards in all of 5A this season. I am really looking forward to seeing how his game will match up against more competition, especially since he has elected to play 17U instead of 16U.
Justus Jackson (5’11 G Millennium/Powerhouse 16U UAA)
Justus Jackson also went on a very hot streak come tournament time, much like his teammate DaRon Holmes. Justus played so well in these big time games that he earned himself an offer from GCU. I think he is going to only improve his game and continue to rack in the college offers.
