A transfer from Pebblebrook High School a season ago, McGhee made the most of his first year with the Raiders, scoring at an impressive 21.3 point per game clip. He is at his best when shooting the ball off the dribble as he has shown the ability to knock shots using a his crossover or step back from the mid-range and three-point area. McGhee can hit jumpers off the catch as well and the lift on his shot has allowed him to become a consistent maker of contested jump shots from all five spots on the three-point line.
An underrated aspect of McGhee’s game might be him putting his head down and getting to the rim. Being such a threat from the perimeter, it opens driving lanes for him to get downhill and finish through contact in the half-court. In transition he can lead the break for finishes and regardless of the situation makes the right basketball play for himself or teammates.
McGhee was the focal point of the Mays offense and his offensive consistency led to an all-region selection as well as honorable mention in Georgia’s 6A classification. He will look to use that moment to get his recruitment going as he heads into his final AAU season with “Game Elite Blue” and their 17 and under program.
“I think I had a great season this year, I learned how to be that guy and carry myself like it. Next year will be even better.”
