Hundreds of of Division 1 players sacrficed their time and bodies for their teams. Everything ended in matchup between Ypsilanti Lincoln and UD Jesuit. Ypsilanti Lincoln’s Jalen Fisher buried a shot at the buzzer to bring home the school’s first state championship. It was an amazing run, led by freshmen phenom Emoni Bates.
It was a challenging task naming a Division 1 Player of the year for the 2018-2019 season. Prep Hoops Michigan is proud to announce the Honorable Mentions and Co-MVP’s for the season.
MVP
Emoni Bates (2022, F, Ypsilanti Lincoln)
Bates came in as possibly the most highly touted freshman in the history of Michigan high school basketball. And his performance was as advertised. Bates was the leading scorer in Division 1 basketball this season. He led the best Ypsilanti Lincoln squad in school history.
Daniel Friday (2019, CG, UD Jesuit)
Friday was what every coach wants. He was a steady leader and consistently played like one of the best players in the state. Friday averaged 17ppg, 6rpg, and 3.5apg. He was an extremely efficient shooter, hitting at a 63% clip. Friday was also one of the best defensive players in the state.

B. Artis-White (2019, PG, Canton)
Tough with the ball and a top perimeter defender.
Caleb Bates (2019, F, LakeShore)
Versatile player that averaged a double-double.
Lorne Bowman (2020, PG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
The Wisconsin commit was one of the steadiest lead guards in Michigan.
JaMoni Jones (2020, PG, East Kentwood)
Established himself as an explosive scorer from the point.
Isaiah Lewis (2019, PG, Wayne Memorial)
A great leader that filled it up from deep.
Drew Lowder (2019, PG, Ann Arbor Pioneer)
Explosive point guard that led Pioneer to an SEC Red title.
Joe Moon (2019, PG, Westland John Glenn)
Mr. Basketball finalist is an elite scorer.
Donavan Moore (2019, CG, West Bloomfield)
Toledo commit was a versatile leader.
Josh Palo (2019, CG, Howell)
Led Howell on a historic state semifinal run.
Evan Thomas (2019, SG, Okemos)
Sharpshooter took Okemos all the way to the semifinals.
Chandler Turner (2019, SG, Detroit Renaissance)
Super athlete that dominated the competition all season.
Ryan Wade (2019, SG, Ann Arbor Skyline)
Was an elite shooter and defender this season.
Jordan Whitford (2019, SG, Detroit King)
A clutch scorer led Detroit King to big victory after big victory.
