Evanston led pretty much all the way. Loyola made a few runs including one in the fourth, but Evanston pulled away to win 56-42. Here are our Most Intriguing Prospects: Evanston vs Loyola.
SG Jaylin Gibson (Evanston – 2021)
Gibson stole the show for Evanston. The top 15 sophomore prospect was the best player on the floor which was full of college prospects. He is an athletic guard that can really score it. Opened up with a pair of triples including one off a dribble handoff. Then he started working downhill. Split the defense for one layup. Coast to coast on another where he did an excellent job of shielding the ball away from shot blockers. In the third quarter he held the ball at the top for several minutes then blew right past his defender. Would also hit a couple threes. Was very effective on the boards early. Gibson finished with 20 points and 6 boards.
SF Louis Lesmond (Evanston – 2021)
Lesmond is a transfer into Evanston this year from France and he might have had his biggest game of the season in the playoffs. Early in the season when we saw him you could tell the potential was there with his size and shooting stroke, but the production didn’t match. He is much more comfortable now and making an impact. Knocked down a trio of threes in this game off the catch. Clean and fluid shot mechanics. Going to be a big time shooting threat! Was good defensively too moving his feet, blocking a shot from the weak side, and getting a steal. He had 9 points.
SG Lance Jones (Evanston – 2019)
Quiet scoring game on Friday night for the top 20 prospect. He didn’t score at all in the first half and not much in the second, but he still impacted the game. Got in the lane with his live dribble drawing defenders which opened up shots for shooters. Rebounds well from his guard spot. Pesky on ball defender. Tough kid that can impact the game by more than just scoring.
PG Jahiem Holden (Evanston – 2019)
Holden is a lefty point guard that might not be the tallest, but this kid has a ton of heart. He is quick and shifty with the rock in his hands. Capable three point shooter as he drilled a corner one off the catch along with a pull up triple. Couple athletic takes where he throws up acrobatic and sometimes wild shots, but they seem to go in. He had 12 points.
PG Ryan Bost (Evanston – 2019)
Small combo guard is a sharp shooter for this team. Connected on some threes and brought toughness to the table on the defensive end.
SG Connor Barrett (Loyola – 2019)
Barrett is an unsigned senior wing who will play at the next level. Quality size at the two guard spot and can shoot the ball knocking down a pair from the wing. Decent ball handler that had a strong slash in the fourth quarter. Good skill level here. He went for 12 points.
PF Bennett Kwiencinski (Loyola – 2020)
Bennett is a 6’7” four man that ranks among the better power forwards in his class. Works well out of the high-post area where he took his man off the dribble a few times on quick drives for scores or was fouled. Finished in the lane on spin moves that he often converted with hook shots. Got on the glass for a put back. Mobile post with upside. He had 15 points and 8 boards.
PF Jordan Kwiencinski (Loyola – 2020)
Jordan showed flashes, but the production wasn’t as much as his brother on this night. Turned it over and had a charged called on him. Two most impressive moves were when he got a steal and went coast to coast at his size before being fouled. The other was a silky smooth pull up mid-range jumper.
G Quinn Pemberton (Loyola – 2019)
Pemberton played on the ball for the Ramblers. Thick and physical point guard that is powerful with the ball in his hands. Hit a three and got on the glass for 8 points.
