The Class of 2019 went from almost always missing out when it came to making the state playoffs, to putting together a great state run. The American Fork Cavemen are this years Most Improved Team. The Cavemen not only won more games than they have won in the last two years, but they were able to avenge two early losses to the then # 1 ranked Pleasant Grove Vikings. AF went from an 11 win team to a 24 win team.
40 Years in the Making
It has been 40 years since American Fork has claimed a basketball state championship. They have had the most Division 1 talent in the state the past 10 years or so and this year was no different. They had all the talent
Key Players
Tanner Cuff– American Fork was fortunate that their new coach came with a package as they needed Tanner to help them win because he was a tough gritty combo guard that could do it all. Tanner recently committed to Utah State Eastern.
Hayden Franson– Was a dual threat that helped space the floor for AF. His ability to shoot and pull big’s out was important especially when teams had big’s that would clog up the middle. Hayden has also committed to playing with Utah State Eastern.
Trey Stewart– Trey was electrifying this year as he was able to play in a more open system and run the floor. He plays well with and without the ball in his hands. He will develop well at Utah Valley University.
Noah Moeaki– The talented freshman grew up right before our eyes. He does everything well and he will turn into a big time prospect at AF. He is also a good football player as well. Look for Noah to possible turn some heads this summer as he suits up for Utah Mountain Stars.
Issac Johnson– The 6’10 W and University of Oregon commit was a crucial player for this team to capture the state championship. He will suit up for the Ducks in 2022 when he returns from a church mission.
Congratulations to American Fork as they were this years Most Improved Team and they were able to capture the 6A State Championship.
