PrepHoopsIllinois is excited to get out to tons of events over the next few months. We wanted to give you some insight into the players we are excited to see this spring! Here is our Looking Forward: 2020 Point Guards.
Tyler Beard (Whitney Young)
It was an up and down year for the state’s #3 junior. Beard broke out last summer with Meanstreets and at the Nike Elite 100 Camp with his ability to get to the rim, knock down pull up jumpers, and bring toughness to the table. He has a lot of high-majors looking forward to seeing his progress this spring.
Ahron Ulis (Marian Catholic)
Ulis had a consistent junior year. He had to take on more of a scoring role with the transfer of Malik Tidwell. We thought he did an excellent job of balancing his passing and scoring. Look forward to seeing how he does against elite national competition.
Reggie Strong (St. Joseph’s)
Strong is a prospect that transferred over from Farragut and didn’t get hardly any buzz at all this season. St. Joe’s really struggled. Can Strong turn the momentum back in the right direction this spring?
Trey Davis (St. Laurence)
Davis jumped off the floor for us when we saw St. Laurence during the high school season. The lefty can really shoot it from three and has quickness off the bounce. We hadn’t seen him previously on the circuit so it will be interesting to see who he runs with.
Connor Dillon (Peoria Notre Dame)
Dillon is a combo guard with athleticism, slick passing, and potential as a shooter. He was the leader for PND throughout the season and will be one to watch this spring to see how much he can elevate.
Beau Frericks (Cary Grove)
Frericks is a player we didn’t see much of during the high school season so we are really excited to see how his game has progressed. Smart floor general that can really score it with range on his shot.
Everett Stubblefield (Willowbrook)
Stubblefield flashed with Willowbrook this year. Smaller scoring point guard that went off for stretches of games. Excited to see how that translates against better competition game in and game out.
