Wheatmore HS Senior Forward Gavin Rains: It’s only right that we start things off with the leading rebounder in the state that’s pulling down over 17 rebounds a night. The 6’7 forward not only gets it done on the glass but also knows how to put the ball in the bucket as he is averaging 26 points a night. He already signed with Queens University which we feel will be a great fit for both sides, we love his skillset, upside and his ability to allow himself to be coached.
Community Christian Freshman Eric Wynn: He comes in at #3 in the state pulling down 13 Rebounds a night, to along with 16 Points and 3 blocks per contest. For any player at the high school level this would be very impressive numbers but when you consider the fact that he just completed his freshman year, you have to be even more impressed.
Hendersonville Senior Forward Ben Beeker: From the first time that we got the chance to see him, we have been impressed with his talent and the upside that he has to his game. He runs the floor well, understands his role, has become more aggressive as time has gone on and is a double/double machine. His averages on the season of 17 Points and 13 Rebounds combined with his 6’9/215 pound frame is something that has college coaches excited.
Purnell Swett Junior Forward Xavier Jones: At about 6’2, he is one the shortest players in the mix of top rebounders in the state as he is pulling down 12.6 per contest. The way he accomplishes this is simple, he outworks opponents on a regular basis, and he takes on the attitude and determination that every single missed shot is a rebound he must get. This not only helps his team to get out into transition to get easy offense but it also help his scoring as he can score the ball off the offensive boards.
West Columbus HS Sophomore Forward Brandis Kelly: For such a young man, his talent and potential is clear without a doubt. Our first chance to get a really close look at him came during the State tournament vs East Carteret where he was absolutely dominant, scoring all over the floor and showing his impressive passing ability.
South Robeson HS Senior Forward/Center Cameron Werrell: His stock has clearly been on the rise due to his play this season, he averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds per contest and showed a very nice skillset. Although he is around 6’4/300, his ability to score the ball from outside is impressive, he’s one of those guys that can be dangerous in pick and roll situations when he is used as the screener.
