Free school, plus more. That being said, it is always exciting for fans to talk about how many will move onto the Division 1 level out of high school. When I asked some influential people around the basketball community before the high school season started, they said 10 minimum and 15 if everything went perfectly for some kids. So, just how many are signed or committed (will sign) at this exact time and where are they headed?
2019 6’8 PF Anton Watson (Gonzaga Prep HS) – Washington’s Mr. Basketball is headed off to NCAA number 1 seed, Gonzaga University. Could he be a rare one and done for the Zags?
2019 6’5 SG RaeQuan Battle (Marysville Pichuck HS) – One of the top performers from the 3A State Tournament proved exactly why he is a top 100 level recruit. RaeQuan will be taking his talents to the University of Washington.
2019 6’1 PG Brock Ravet (Kittitas HS) – The state’s all time leading scorer is the second in-state signee for Gonzaga University. He will look to bring his passing and scoring attack to one of the best programs in the country.
2019 6’7 SG Cole Bajema (Lynden Christian HS) – The star of the northern part of Washington has signed to the University of Michigan. After a red-hot summer, Cole picked up numerous D1 offers and ultimately found Michigan to be the spot for him.
2019 6’3 PG Elijah Pepper (Selah HS) – The super scorer from the Yakima-Valley had a solid summer with Team LaVine and picked up multiple offers, before signing with UC Davis in the Big Sky Conference.
2019 6’4 SG Noah Williams (O’Dea HS) – The 3A state champion went on a visit to the University of Buffalo and committed not so long after. Buffalo is one of the top 15 teams in the country this year and has a nice tradition of basketball success in recent years especially.
2019 6’8 PF Abdul Mohamed (West Seattle HS) – The pride of the west side will be taking his talents east of the mountains to suit up for Eastern Washington University. Abdul had a good high school season for West Seattle and some big time statistical games. He should continue to develop well at the next level.
2019 6’7 SG Steele Venters (Ellenburg HS) – The smooth shooter and scorer out of the central Washington region committed right after the state tournament. He is one of three EWU recruits from the state of Washington and he was definitely one of the talents EWU wanted to keep at home.
2019 6’6 SG Jacob Groves (Shadle Park HS) – The shooter from Shadle Park will not have to travel too far for college, as he will be attending Eastern Washington University. There’s something about Eastern Washington for Jacob when you consider him playing club ball for Eastern Washington Elite, high school ball for Shadle Park and then signing to EWU.
By the Club:
9 players are currently signed/committed for the class of 2019. It is very likely that 2-3 more players could sign Division 1 before it’s all said and done, but that still remains to be determined! Which clubs have sent the most players Division 1 so far?
Eastern Washington Elite: 2
Washington Supreme: 2
Seattle Rotary: 2
Friends of Hoop: 1
Spokane Griffins: 1
Team LaVine: 1
