This weekend the Hoopseen Tip Off Classic took place in Suwannee, Georgia at the Suwannee Sports Academy. The field was pretty loaded with a bunch of good travel programs from around the southeast. Below you can find out which prospect stoodout more than others throughout the weekend.
2021 PG Peyton Daniels – Stackhouse Elite (NC) pictured above
Peyton Daniels of Tri Cities (GA) has shown me now that he can be one of the best players in his class nationally. The 6-foot-2 combo guard has the elite tools already to be that high level player that he holds inside himself. Daniels has the ball handling skills and flashiness as a sophomore and is able to score in bunches when he is on the floor. He is an elite shooter who shows he can create space to get his shot off any time he wants. Besides his electric offensive game, Peyton is also an aggressive defender and will not hesitate to get physical with his opponent. The upside Peyton holds is incredible and he should open multiple eyes of the college coaches.
2021 F Ian Schieffelin – Stackhouse Elite (NC)
The 6-foot-7 Ian Schieffelin of Grayson (GA) had himself a weekend alongside his teammate Peyton Daniels of Stackhouse Elite (NC). Ian is a versatile big who can make plays on both ends of the floor. With his size, Ian can be a post player one possesion and can also be a three point shot maker the second. He holds a unique skill-set and should receive a few interest and offers from next level programs. Ian can also be a force on the glass and has that sneaky athleticism you might not think he has at a first glance.
2020 PG KD Johnson – Game Elite (GA)
KD Johnson of Southwest Dekalb (GA) continues to show his upside and competitive nature when he is on the floor. The 6-foot-2 point guard is in for a stock rising spring, summer running with Game Elite (GA) on the Adidas Gauntlet and what a start he has had already. Johnson is a fierce competitor and will out hustle most prospects on the floor. The 2020 point guard proved all weekend long he is able to run a team by showing his improved point guard skills. He is a pitbull defender and is so disruptive against his opponents. KD will continue to display his skills every weekend until August.
2020 SG Keon Johnson – EAB (TN)
Top-50 prospect two-guard Keon Johnson of The Webb School (TN) was another standout at the 2019 Hoopseen Tip Off Classic. The 6-foot-5 guard impressed mostly on the defensive side of the ball. Keon is a very active defender and seemed to be everywhere on the court defensively. He has great hands and is able to distrupt passing lanes of his opponents. Johnson holds high level athleticism and is able to change speeds in a blink of an eye. Although he did not show his shooting abilities, Keon is able to attack the rim with ease and make his way to the rim.
2021 SG Garrison Powell – Game Elite (GA)
One of the southeast’s top rising stars will be Garrison Powell of Holy Innocents (GA). The 6-foot-3 combo guard is an aggressive scoring playmaker who has the potential to score in bunches. Powell probably does not receive enough recognition but that should certainly change this spring, summer. He is also one of the best on ball defenders you will witness throughout this AAU season. He has a solid physical built and body frame for a kid his age and he is able to utilize his size well. Garrison is without question one of the best players in the state of Georgia regardless of class and should receive more national attention this AAU season.
