Hidden Gems hosted a really good showcase at Thomas Worthington HS, with talent from all around. Here, I break down a few guards who showed some skill.
Breaking it down:
• N’Keeley Elmore (5’10” / G 2019 / Northland HS): N’Keeley Elmore was inconsistent today a bit scoring. But in his first game basically did what he wanted against his matchup. Showing a good feel for the game, changes speeds with good timing. Was able to turn it up for the blow by, or stop on a dime for a pull up. Elmore showcased his passing ability, feeding the inside lane off the bounce pass with regularity. Elmore finishes through contact, the best part of his game. On defense, a very active defender. Will pick his man up the distance and press it all the way.
• Cali Davis (6’0” / G 2020 / Africentric HS): Was really impressed with Cali Davis’s game at the showcase. Athletic at the guard spot, the junior is really quick which benefits him both ways. Showcased a knockdown three-point release, Davis has the skills to fill it up. Due for a big senior year next season.
• Ethan Bell (5’10” / G 2021 / River Valley HS): Ethan Bell has the ability to be a volume shooter from three, but he showed more at this event. Bell at 5’10” showed the ability to get to the rack and finish inside off the bounce. A primary creator for about any offense, the sophomore strives on making the right play. Bell can be a problem, especially if he reaches the 6-foot mark.
• Jaden Dade ( G 2022 / Thomas Worthington HS): Dade had an impressive showing, starting with active hands on defense, causing deflections. Dade showed the ability to work off ball, covering his transition lane – as well as finishing at the hoop
• Jerome Bosley (5’9” / G 2022 / Eastmoor): Jerome Bosley was one of the freshman that stood out to me. Bosley moves well without the ball, and is ready to shoot it at all times off the catch which is important. Knockdown shooting ability already. Also, Bosley fills the lane on a transition nicely, spacing the offense as well.
