Hard Work Region Preview: Northern Lakers
We may be on the tail end of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the Prep Hoops Circuit Hard Work Region and here’s a look at the Northern Lakers.
The Northern Lakers will compete in the 17U age division of the Hard Work Region and will be at Hard Work Live, Battle at the Lakes and the Hard Work Region Finals.
I recently caught up with Northern Lakers director Jeff Everett to learn more about the program and what to expect from his team this season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
The Northern Lakers were formed back in 2013, so we could give local players from the Duluth/Superior area a chance to compete against players from the Twin Cities area. Since that first season we have stayed the course, each year expanding the roster and seeking out new talent which allows us to play against the best possible competition out there a highlight of last season was a Final 8 appearance at the Battle of the Lakes. One of our main objectives is to provide our players the best possible platform to improve their skills against Elite players so they can help their High School teams be more successful.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Our goal this season is to give our players a chance to play in front of College coaches and get them the most exposure they can, that’s why we chose the Prep Hoops Circuit Hard Work Region.
What is your program’s mission each year?
To give local players from the Duluth/Superior area a chance to compete against players from the Twin Cities area.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?

Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
