Hard Work Region Preview: 419s Finest
We may be on the tail end of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the Prep Hoops Circuit Hard Work Region and here’s a look at 419s Finest.
419s Finest will compete in the 13U and 17U age divisions of the Hard Work Region and will be at Hard Work Live, Summer Challenge and the Hard Work Region Finals.
I recently caught up with 419s Finest Director Fitzgerald Gaston to learn more about the program and what to expect from his team this season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
I truly started my program because I’m tired of all Toledo, Ohio’s talent having to go somewhere else to make a name for themselves on the AAU circuit instead of making a name where they’re from, and that’s the 419, and we have been around for 3 years.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
To be honest it is to get nationally known on the AAU circuit, and to get our kids in our area looked at for college so they can get to the next level.
What is your program’s mission each year?
To get kids from our area to stay here and quit having to travel everywhere to play for different teams.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
For 17U it’s sophomore Point Guard, CamRon Gaston Junior Center, Logan McDermott. For 13U it’s Combo Guard Conye Gaston and Post Player Neiko McIntyre.
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
To me it is the best AAU circuit in the country and I feel it gives kids the best chance to continue their basketball careers at the next level.
