As we near the end of the high school basketball season it’s time to to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Grind Region and here’s a look at FYN All Stars.
FYN All Stars will have a team in the 17U division of the Grind Region. They will be participating in the #GrindSzn Kickoff, Mayhem in the Plex, and Grind Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with coach Chris Gaines.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
After playing professional overseas for 7 years decided to come home and make a impact to the kids around the community. We started in the year 2014 and hit the ground running. We try to run a college style program and emphasize the values of keeping the game simple. In the five years of existence FYN Allstars has had major success win major tournaments around the city of Houston
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
The goal for the 2019 season for us is to grind it out do all the things we need to do to be successful. We are planning on making a lot of noise this season playing hard and playing the right way.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
The 17u has some new additions as well as returning players. The FYN Allstars return 6’3 Jr. Tommy Tapp, 6’0 Sr. Gentry Carr, 6’0 SR Zack Golaszewski 6’5 Sr. Ramaj Gordon, 6’8 Wade Autenreith, adding 5’10 Sr. Nevin Graves, 6’5 Jr. Nash Golaszewski, 5’11 Sr. Ty Archibald, Mason
This will be a very competitive group who will have the ability to catch fire at any moment. Wade will hold down the inside with rebounding and scoring the Golaszewski brothers and Ty Archibald will be a force to be reckoned with in the backcourt. Ramaj Gordon will hold down wing with his driving ability.
16u – 6’6 soph Albert Thomas, 5’9 soph Zeydin Walker, soph 6’3Braylon Haynes, soph 6’1 John Kelly ,6’3 soph Kennedy Watkins, Nick Jackson, Jorge Trey
This will be a very scrappy team who are very talented group who will definitely make noise and be able to compete on the highest level with anyone.
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We chose the prep hoops circuit because it seems very intriguing and it is ran very well. The Allstars are excited to play on this circuit and compete with so of the top teams that’s already committed to playing.
