Continue ReadingWith the conclusion of the high school season, we are trying to close the book on the 2018-19 year. But, for a little peak into the future, we give you our look at those teams to watch next season for each class. This is our way-too-early look at the 4A Rankings heading into the 2019-2020 season.
***Some teams will move classes based on reclassification rules and/or legacy points.
Top Teams 4A:
- Lawrence Central – With the return of D’Andre Davis and Nijel Pack, it is hard to not like this group. They will need some guys to step into new roles as they graduate 3 starters but to bring back arguably your top two guys that are both high-level DI talents, have to go with them.
- Bloomington South – Not losing anything from this year and returning big guns like Anthony Leal, Noah Jager, and Connor Hickman, this could be on the best shooting teams in the state. They need to find more depth but this could be their best team in a while.
- Jeffersonville – A potential Mr. Basketball contender in Tre Coleman as well as a cast of producers around him will make Jeffersonville one of the top teams in the state. Want to see how this offense runs with everyone healthy and a backcourt of Jaylen Fairmon and Jacob Jones.
- Hamilton Southeastern – The losses of Aaron Etherington and Noah Smith will be tough but this is also the positive of the HSE program, their depth. Led by Chris Grubbs and Mabor Majak, they have a ton of size and skill coming back.
- Fort Wayne Snider – This team has been developing for some time and this should be the year for a breakout. They return everyone of importance and guys like Dillon Duff, Isaac Farnsworth, and Michael Eley give them a lot of versatility on the wing.
- Brownsburg – Brownsburg could be tough to tell how good they will be as a new regime steps in but Malek Edmonds gives them size, Luke Lacey gives them ball handling, and Pierce Thomas gives them a star. If it comes together, they can be good again.
- Lafayette Jeff – This team could be set to breakout as well. With the Barnhizer brothers back along with the Beaver brothers and Matt Jones inside, their starting lineup seems set. Oh, and they are going to be the highest powered offense in the state.
- Homestead – The emergence of Zak Krueger along with Luke Goode present two stellar options on both ends of the ball for Homestead. Once the full wrap in Quinn Harmon and Andrew Leeper, this could be a dark horse next season.
- Lawrence North– With only losing Jared Hankins and David Perkins, the majority of this roster should be back. We have guys like Tony Perkins and D.J. Hughes that could be some of the best in the state. But, there were a ton of guys that got run this year and depth helps.
- Fishers – This team really came along this year but they do bring back key pieces in Justin Long, Alex Szilagyi and standout freshman Jeff Simmons. They might need a couple others but with 4A down a bit, this will be a team that could emerge.
