But, for a little peak into the future, we give you our look at those teams to watch next season for each class. This is our way-too-early look at the 3A Rankings heading into the 2019-2020 season.
***Some teams will move classes based on reclassification rules and/or legacy points.
Top Teams 3A:
- Silver Creek – Of all of the teams that won a State Championship this year, Silver Creek looks like the best bet to make a run back. Losing Ty Kessinger, Jack Hawkins, and Zane Gross hurts but Kooper Jacobi, Trey Kaufman, and Branden Northern are stars.
- Heritage Hills – While there are a few players graduating, their top four players are returning with Simon Scherry, Murray Becher, and Blake Sisley leading a team that has aspirations of a State Championship.
- Marion– While they lose some stalwarts, the best of the best are coming back with Jalen Blackmon and Jakylen Thomas in the blackout. Also, look for freshman Rasheed Jones to become a name to know. They will be one of the best offenses in the state.
- Greensburg – Mason McLeod and Drew Comer are gone but this team is set to be just as good next year with Lane Sparks, Miles Wilkinson, and Andrew Welage back to lead the way. They also have three freshman that got run this year that could step up next year as well.
- Mishawaka Marian – Marian ended up being extremely good this year but couldn’t get out of their Sectional. They might have the same issues but Jaden Ivey is a Mr. Basketball contender and not to be taken lightly.
- Evansville Bosse – Bosse keeps on doing their thing and they will reboot. This version could end up being pretty good not only with Junior All-Star Kiyron Powell but a pair of freshman in Matt Wagner and Julian Norris could really blossom into offense weapons.
- Crispus Attucks – Like Bosse, Attucks is a team that can reload every year. They lose a ton. But, Sincere McMahon, Donavon Barnett, Jaylen Carson, Tyran Rodgers, and E.J. Smith are a pretty good start to a starting lineup.
- Muncie Central – This is a team that could breakout in 3A this year. Victor Young at the top with guys like Reggie Bass, Dylan Stafford, and K.J. Jackson returning give them a stellar base of talent with some potent offensive weapons.
- South Bend St. Joseph – St. Joe’s brings back the majority of their roster really only losing Alex Mossey. However, JR Konieczny, Phillip Robles, Jack Futa, and Adam O’Dell are four sophomores that will help to turn this program into a top-end school in the next couple years.
- Gary West – This was a team that kind of jumped into the mix and pulled some big wins in. Now, they bring back some key pieces in freshman standout Jalen Washington along with the Roberson twins and sophomore guard Quimari Peterson. Their top players are sophomores or younger.
