Marcus Domask, Quintin Winterfeldt, Trequan Carrington, Or Ace Evans…Which Prospect Will Have The Best Performance In the D-3 Championship?
Waupun and Martin Luther have already faced off once this year. In that game, Martin Luther took home the win as Ace Evans and Trequan Carrington combined for 47 points. Marcus Domask scored 25 points in the loss.
Both squads are coming off one-sided semifinal wins.
Martin Luther’s Trequan Carrington will roll into this matchup teeming with confidence. Carrington is coming off a 41 point performance that entrenched himself in the record books. Carrington’s 41 points set the single-game scoring record for a D-3 state game.
Ace Evans is also coming off a potent performance. Evans scored 21 points on nine made field goals in Martin Luther’s most recent victory.
Marcus Domask put up 21 points in Waupun’s win over Denmark. Quintin Winterfeldt added eight points.
This may be the “sleeper” game of the day. Both teams have great individual talent, but players from both squads have sacrificed personal success for team success.
Can Milwaukee Washington Impose Their Will On The Inside?
At times this season, Milwaukee Washington has been a little too content to settle for the outside jumper. Michael Foster Jr. and Deontay Long will need to get into the paint early and often if Washington wants to hoist the Gold Ball. The Purgolders are at their best when they are working inside-out. Although they were able to sneak by La Crosse Central thanks in most part to their three-point shooting, Nicolet will dismantle this team if they are unable to play effectively in the paint.
Will Cole Nau Take Over Again?
In Friday night’s D-1 semifinal game, Cole Nau was the best player on the court. Nau scored 21 points, snatched eight rebounds, and had six assists. Nau was also able to impact the game significantly on defense. The senior guard was able to hold Neenah’s Max Klesmit to just 15 points on 5 of 17 shooting. If Nau is able to play this well on both ends, Brookfield Central will be very difficult to beat.
Can Jacob Ognacevic And Sheboygan Lutheran Finish Off Their Phenomenal Season?
Losing just two games this year, Sheboygan Lutheran has one of their best seasons since their famous 2011-12 season. Sheboygan Lutheran has been able to get to this point because of Jacob Ognacevic‘s terrific junior season. Ognacevic is scoring 30 plus points on a nightly basis. Ognacevic and Lutheran will look to end their season on the right note when they take on Columbus Catholic at 11:05 AM.
Which Guards Will Step Nicolet And Milwaukee Washington?
The stars of the D-2 championship are big men, but the game could be decided by the backcourt play. Kobe Johnson has been an asset for Nicolet this year, while Tre White has been a great midseason addition to Milwaukee Washington.
Kobe Johnson is one of the most improved players in the state. Johnson led all scorers with 20 points in Nicolet’s blowout win over Elkhorn.
Tre White only scored seven points in Milwaukee Washington’s OT win over La Crosse Central. However, do not be surprised if White has a bounce-back performance in the championship game.
Will it be Kobe Johnson who will step up? Or will Tre White finish off his freshman season with another great performance? Both backcourts are filled with plenty of youth, but also plenty of talent. Don’t be surprised if a guard from either team comes out of nowhere and helps their team to a victory.
