Continue ReadingWith the Final Four matchups for all of the AHSAA teams in the books, and the State Championship games underway, I wanted to pause for a second to look at some of the top performing players from the Final Four games, from Class 1A to 7A! These are in no particular order and are not ranked in any special way. I just gathered a bunch of great performances throughout the Final Four and want to highlight them below!
BJ Comer
Despite losing to Plainview 74-45, BJ Comer put on an impressive performance for Prattville Christian, putting up 23 points. In addition, he also had 6 rebounds, 6 steals, and 5 assists!
Jayden Stone
Sacred Heart met Calhoun in one of the Class 2A Final Four games, and Sacred Heart came out on top 75-65. Stone put forth a lot of effort in that win, which resulted in 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Jaykwon Walton
Carver-Montgomery had pretty dominant win against Muscle Shoals earlier this week, winning 62-48. Jaykwon Walkton helped Carver get that win and advance to the Class 6A State Championship game, with 24 points.
Jermaine Brown
Taking home a 51-45 win over Spring Garden, St. Luke’s advanced to the Class 1A State Championship game earlier this week. Jermaine Brown put in work for the Wildcats, with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
River Helms
One of the Class 4A Final Four games saw West Limestone facing off against Booker T. Washington (Tuskegee) and it turned out to be a close game! West Limestone left the gym with a 50-48 win, behind River Helms’ 16 point and 11 rebound double-double performance.
Ahman Ellington
Despite losing to Baker in one the Class 7A Final Four games, Ahman Ellington had a very impressive performance. Hoover found themselves 4 points shy of advancing to the Class 7A State Championship game, losing 59-55. Ellington gave it his best for the Buccaneers, with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Auston Leslie
#2 Westminster found themselves matched up against Bullock County in the Class 3A Final Four matchup. Westminster would end up taking home the 50-32 dominant victory, behind 26 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals from Auston Leslie.
Noah Boler
I’m not going to lie. For me, this was the best Final Four performance, and it came from the Class 1A matchup between Decatur Heritage and Georgiana. Decatur Heritage won the game 60-50 and Noah Boler had a monster game, with a 24-point, 11 rebound, and 10 block triple-double! In addition to that, he also had 2 assists and 2 steals.
Trendon Watford
If you keep up with high school hoops, you definitely know this guy. Mountain Brook took down Lee-Montgomery 59-48 in their Final Four matchup. Trendon Watford helped the Spartans get that win with a 14 point and 13 rebound double-double. He also tacked on 4 steals and 2 blocks.
Jerdarrian Davison
Despite losing 75-65 to Sacred Heart, Calhoun gave it their best but came up 10 points short. Even though they lost, Jerdarrian Davison played hard for the Tigers and had a 17 point 10 rebound double-double, along with 6 assists.
Cameron Tucker
Wenonah faced off against Ramsay (Birmingham) in their Final Four matchup and came out victorious, with a 72-61 win. Cameron Tucker helped his team get that win, with a very impressive 22 point, 9 rebound, and 6 assist performance.
Koby Tinker
#1 Plainview met Prattville Christian in the Class 3A Final Four matchup. Koby Tinker led the way for Plainview, with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals to help give his team a 74-55 win.
Joshua McGee
Central-Cossa defeated Tanner 68-58 earlier this week, to advance to the Class 2A State Championship game. This hard-fought battle was spearheaded by Joshua McGee, who had a 17 point and 13 rebound double-double for Central.
Martez Jones
Despite losing to West Limestone by just 2 points in the Final Four, Booker T. Washington (Tuskegee) gave it their best shot. Martez Jones did his best to help his team, with a crazy stat line of 18 points, 16 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks in the 50-48 loss for the Golden Eagles.
